I’ve treated an 18-year-old girl witha spinal cord tumour and when she married at 25, I wasable to share in the festivities. All this gives meaning tomy work. In life, we need to have purpose and direction inwhat we do, not just to working to earn a salary”.Enriching the lives of children with severe lifethreateningillnesses is foremost in his personal pursuits.As Chairman of both the Singapore chapter of Make-A-Wish and Make-A-Wish International, Dr Goh leads a globalcharity organisation which is now in 32 countries andwhose mission is to grant the wishes of these children.“These kids go through a lot, living with the spectre ofa serious medical condition, and yet are incredibly braveand resilient. Make-A-Wish is a wonderful way of bringinghappiness and hope into their lives, helping to relieve theawful pain and suffering that they have to endure.
