In India, the company has completed itsinvestment in a joint venture to construct and operatea new hospital in Mumbai, and signed an agreementto manage the upcoming Danat Al Emarat Women andChildren’s Hospital in Abu Dhabi. These investmentsexpand our network of international hospitals beyondthe Asia Pacific region and are excellent opportunitiesfor us to tap into these high growth markets. We succeeded inexpanding our network and strengthening our positionas a leading provider of value-based integrated privatehealthcare in Asia.At the end of 2008, we operate 16 hospitals (threein Singapore, 11 in Malaysia, one in Brunei, one inIndia), 49 medical centres and clinics (43 in Singapore,six in Shanghai, China), nine Radiologic Clinics, fourlaboratories and 48 ParkwayHealth Patient AssistanceCentres (PPAC) across the world. Utilising the latestmedical technologies and innovations and backed bythe experience and knowledge of top-tier specialists, ourmedical facilities are able to set the highest standards inpatient-focused care and clinical outcomes.Growing our key marketsParkway’s strategy has always been to focus on deliveringreturns to shareholders and laying the groundwork forfuture growth, and this is even more important to us inthese uncertain times.Over the last year, we have had the support of manytop-tier financial institutions which have providedthe financing for our expansion plans, in particularthe syndicated credit facility for the land cost and theconstruction cost of the new hospital and medical centreat Novena.Meeting the challenges aheadLike many other companies in Singapore and the rest ofthe world, Parkway is facing an economic environmentthat is unprecedented in its challenges.
