I knew they weresupposed to be Irish but Protestant so assumed they were Scot Irish. I know that Clara McCoachwas my great grandmother, dob 1877, in Philadelphia. I think her mother was named Martha,married to James McCouch, shows her dob as 1844, in Ireland. The haplotype "I" came as a greatsurpise. FamilytreeDNA is retesting as I do not have all the mutations usually assoicated with "I".I was told that Oxford would have lumped all "I" haplotypes as "X". (Data from Ulster Pedigrees by Ray A. Jones 1977). The Orrs were Scots who came to Co.Down about 1606, and the other names in the maternal line, Orr, Stewart, Kennedy, Lamontsupport this. Thus, the T2 haplogroup is consistent. However, my Y-DNA haplogroup asignment isR1a (Kurgan: SRY10831.2- done by Family Tree DNA), which is very strange as I know that mypaternal ancestors came to Co.
