2.2 Hose Connection/DisconnectionA minimum of 15 t S W L crane is required for cargo hose handling.ADCO <strong>Fujairah</strong> Terminal personnel will connect and disconnect cargohoses to the tanker’s manifold under the supervision of LoadingMaster. Tanker is to provide crane driver and general assistance asdirected by the Pilot/Loading Master. The tanker’s officer needs to bepresent <strong>at</strong> the manifold during hose connection and disconnection..2.3 Flash PointThe flash point of Murban crude is below 32 degrees Fahrenheit.2.4 Crude Oil Temper<strong>at</strong>uresEvery effort is made to keep the loading temper<strong>at</strong>ure of export crudebelow 150 F but there could be times when the temper<strong>at</strong>ure exceedsthis. Masters are however advised when the temper<strong>at</strong>ure is likely toincrease. These increases are normally due to changes in theproduction, loading r<strong>at</strong>e, tank levels etc. The temper<strong>at</strong>ure for ship’scalcul<strong>at</strong>ions.2.5 H2S ContentMurban crude contains concentr<strong>at</strong>ion of H2S (Hydrogen Sulphide).H2S has disagreeable odour characteristics of rotten eggs whichquickly deaden the sense of smell; dangerous concentr<strong>at</strong>ion may bepresent which cannot be detected. Whenever concentr<strong>at</strong>ion of this gasis detected, the area is to be evacu<strong>at</strong>ed of ships personnel andventil<strong>at</strong>ion started to disperse this gas.During loading, gas should only be allowed to escape via the agreedventing arrangements.Whenever any sampling or ullaging is being carried out, personnelshould stand <strong>at</strong> right angles to the wind direction to avoid inhal<strong>at</strong>ion.If H2S is accidentally inhaled, th<strong>at</strong> person should leave the area untilth<strong>at</strong> person’s sense of smell has been restored.Persons on deck should be carried personnel H2S gas detector.2 Bre<strong>at</strong>hing appar<strong>at</strong>us should be standing by <strong>at</strong> the ship’s manifold.Ship’s A/C to be in recircul<strong>at</strong>ion and all doors to be closed.Mentoring H2S inside the accommod<strong>at</strong>ion should regularly every twohours.In case wind speed zero – loading may be suspended subject to Master/LMdecision.Version No. 2 / D<strong>at</strong>e : 01.04.2012 Revision No. 7/ 30.01.2013 Page 33 |6 3
