In cases of infractions such as fighting, throwing food or objects, or misbehaviors as identified<br />
in our code of conduct, students will be escorted by a cafeteria supervisor to an administrator.<br />
VISITORS<br />
<strong>Parent</strong>s are always welcome to visit the Riverfront <strong>School</strong>. All visitors must enter through the<br />
main entrance and report directly to the Main Office to sign in and obtain a visitor=s pass.<br />
Since the safety of our students and school community is most important, the school district<br />
will not hesitate to involve law enforcement and/or take legal action against any unauthorized<br />
or suspicious person(s) in the building or on school property.<br />
PHYSICAL EDUCATION PARTICIPATION<br />
All students are required by state law to be actively enrolled in physical education classes.<br />
<strong>Parent</strong>al written requests for excuses from a single physical education class must be presented<br />
to the nurse before the school day for which the request is made.<br />
To be excused from physical education for any length of time beyond one day, a doctor=s<br />
certificate is required, which should include a diagnosis and a specific time for the excuse, and<br />
be presented to the school nurse. Such certification must be presented each year in which the<br />
student is enrolled.<br />
As per Board of Education Policy, Ano pupil, whose body contains body piercings, shall be<br />
permitted to participate in gym class until such time said pupil has removed all such piercings.<br />
Said piercings must remain removed for the duration of said pupil=s participation in gym class.@<br />
FIRE DRILLS<br />
Fire drills at regular intervals are required by law and are an important safety precaution. It is<br />
essential that when the first signal is given, everyone obey orders promptly and quietly, and<br />
clear the building by the prescribed route as quickly as possible. The teacher in each classroom<br />
will give the student instructions.<br />
HALL PASSES<br />
<strong>Student</strong>s must ask the teacher for and carry with them a AHall Pass@ whenever they wish to<br />
leave the classroom to go to the lavatory, Media Center, Nurse, Office, Counselor, or any other<br />
area in the school building.<br />
TEXTBOOKS & AGENDA BOOK<br />
Textbooks are expected to be cared for responsibly. <strong>Student</strong>s are expected to have all books<br />
covered for the entire school year. Any lost, stolen or damaged book will be charged to the<br />
student to whom it was issued.<br />
