THE RIVERFRONT SCHOOL ADISCIPLINE INFRACTION/CONSEQUENCE<br />

CODE@ IS INCLUDED AT THE END OF THIS HANDBOOK. Discipline infractions<br />

that may not have been addressed in the ADiscipline Code@ will be subject to review at<br />

the discretion of the school administration. The ADiscipline Code@ document may be<br />

reviewed during the school year. If changes to the code are implemented, students, staff<br />

and parents affected by the change will be notified.<br />

DRESS CODE FOR STUDENTS<br />

<strong>Student</strong>s at Riverfront <strong>School</strong> are required to follow an acceptable standard of dress<br />

based on specific guidelines as indicated below. In order to foster an academic<br />

atmosphere that is free from distraction, promotes safety, and is not offensive to<br />

others, clothing, accessories, and/or styles that may be considered as a distraction, as<br />

offensive, or as unsafe are not permitted. (Individual teachers may additionally<br />

determine specific safety requirements specific to their instructional programs- for<br />

example, requiring safety goggles in a science lab or sneakers for physical education.)<br />

Examples of dress that are NOT PERMITTED include but are not limited to:<br />

* Excessively oversized clothing and/or sagging pants;<br />

* Sleeveless tops or shirts;<br />

* Tight-fitting clothing<br />

* Sunglasses<br />

* Outside wear (such as hats, coats, or gloves) is not to be worn in classrooms. Coats<br />

should be stored in the student=s locker.<br />

* Flip-flops or shoes that leave feet unprotected or that can potentially hinder<br />

movement; examples include flip-flops, mesh slippers, excessively high heels, or<br />

platform shoes. (Footwear must be worn at all times.)<br />

* Clothing that is Arevealing@; examples that are not permitted are as follows:<br />
