ENGINEERING TESTREPORTPROJECT/TASK:TEST GOAL(S):TEST PROCEDURE:DATE OF TEST (REPORT):REPORT AUTHOR:3400 Battery Life TestDetermine Battery Life in High Flow Use ModelN/A19-Jul—3-Aug-05 (4-Aug-05)Shawn Hogan1 BackgroundA critical parameter for the end user of the 3400 instrument will be operation life in batterymode. For the 50 LPM unit, a use model was developed that would be typical of thecleanroom validation process. The High-Flow Use Model system configuration is:Sample Time.............................................................00:20:00 hrs:min:secHold Time .................................................................00:05:00 hrs:min:secSleep Time................................................................0 seconds (off)Backlight Time ..........................................................120 secondsPrint Mode ................................................................AllSample Mode............................................................AutoThe High-Flow Use Model is designed to simulate the process of sampling 1 m 3 of air, printing the sample results, and then allowing 5 minutes to move and position theinstrument at the next sample point.2 Test System DescriptionThe Unit Under Test (UUT) was configured for the system settings as described inSection 1. Battery charge was measured via the Battery Diagnostics screen at the start ofthe test. The UUT was allowed to run continuously until the unit shutdown due to lowpower. The battery life was measured as the time between the initiation of the test and the time ofthe last printed record. True life may be up to an additional 25 minutes of life since the unitwas able to operate for another 25 minutes without printing another record.3 Test ResultsTable 1 is a summary of the battery tests. Additional tests were conducted but notpresented due to issues which invalidated the data (Cal Alarms, pumps on during hold time,etc.). Software and firmware updates were loaded into units as necessary to alleviateerrors, and provide for clean test runs.3400_04Aug05_engTR.doc S. Hogan, 04-Aug-05 Page 1 of 2
