Abrasive Powders<br />

Silicon carbide and alum<strong>in</strong>um oxide abrasive powders are<br />

available <strong>in</strong> various particle sizes. These may, at times, be preferred<br />

<strong>for</strong> f<strong>in</strong>e gr<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>g of samples on various surfaces such as cast iron,<br />

t<strong>in</strong>, lead or cloth covered wheels. The powders are generally used<br />

<strong>in</strong> distilled water mixtures that vary <strong>in</strong> consistency from a th<strong>in</strong><br />

liquid to a paste-like compound depend<strong>in</strong>g upon the powder-towater<br />

ratio.<br />
