On the other hand, techniques of vegetative propagation must beimproved. The well-known difficulties of this kind of propagation are even worsein our case, because mainly older trees were selected. It is also important todevelop a method for characterization of cork quality by means of histologicalparameters. This would make it unnecessary to wait for cork extraction and newselections and tests would be easier, earlier and faster, not to mention thatheritability could be assessed more directly.
