MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRPERSONDear Readers,The year 2010 was a special milestone, marking the 10thbirthday of Vietnam’s securities market and the 5th anniversaryof the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX). It also concluded the fiveyear implementation of the 10th Party Congress’ Resolutionand ten year realization of the 2000-2020 Socio-EconomicDevelopment Strategy. Many remarkable achievements werewitnessed in Vietnam’s economy and hardest impacts in thewake of the global economic recession were relieved.Against this backdrop, though trading activities in the securitiesmarket were relatively modest, there was an exceptionalgrowth in market size. The number of listing companiesdramatically increased, resulting to a higher capitalization ofthe stock market. HNX has taken proactive measures towardsimproving its organization and management with a newoperational model to sustain the steady growth of its threemarkets. Among the measures taken are reinforcing marketsurveillance, upgrading trading technologies for the threemarkets and facilitating closer integration into global stockexchanges as well as a kick-off for new development stage.Entering the year 2011, the starting point for the implementationof the Socio-Economic Development Strategy to 2020 and the2011-2015 Hanoi Stock Exchange Development Plan, HNX aimsto innovate its market regulation model, improve managementand administration efficiency and R&D of new products. HNXis determined to boost performance of its listed market, makebreakthroughs on the UPCoM market, foster stable developmentin the Government bond market, introduce new products andapply internationally-recognized quality management standardsin line with its new management mechanisms and Vietnam’sinternational economic integration.We believe that with our strong determination to achieve the2011’s targets, proper guidance from relevant governmentauthorities and continuous support from market participants andinvestors, HNX will successfully implement its 2011 plan and pavethe way for further success on its development journey.Respectfully,Vu Thi Kim LienChairperson04
