ANNUAL REPORT 2010MESSAGE FROM CEODear readers,The year 2010 witnessed significant development in the historyof Vietnam’s 10-year securities market and 5-year Hanoi StockExchange (HNX). It also proved to be an important and meaningfulmilestone for the bourse. On the one hand, HNX has clearly beenemerging as a fast-growing listing market and a flexible stockexchange for unlisted public companies (UPCoM) in Vietnam, itwas efficiently operating as a bond market on the other hand.In addition, breakthroughs in technological application andsuccessful employment of online trading in HNX has takenproactive part in the trend, which in turn greatly facilitated buyingand selling activities by investors and trading members.As such, it is reasonable to affirm that the prime and utmostgoal for a fast-growing, sustainable and transparent stockmarket set out for HNX at its birth has been gradually becominga reality. Ultimately, the Second class Labor Order conferred bythe State President to HNX in 2010 again recognizes its activecontributions to stock market development in Vietnam inparticular and to its economy as a whole in general.The advent of the year 2011 opens up a promising new decade(2011-2020) for Vietnam. It will be a significant period for thenational economic re-structuring and sustained developmentto aim us at a modernized and industrialized country by2020. Such circumstance is laying out both opportunities andchallenges for our growth. In the context, HNX determinesitself to go on with its targets and expectations to enable itto run various markets steadily, and to add new products andvalues to Vietnamese bourse.We are thankful for and appreciate the attention and closeguidance from the Ministry of Finance, the State SecuritiesCommission and the Hanoi People’s Committee over the year.It is also our great gratitude to Government agencies, marketparticipants, businesses and investors for the kind support andcooperation.
