HEAD COACH/QUARTERBACKSFIRST YEAR AT BUFFALOCINCINNATI, ’83DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR/LINEBACKERSSECOND YEAR AT BUFFALOWILLIAM TYNDALE COLLEGE, ’99Long-time Canadian <strong>Football</strong> League head coach Danny Barrettbegins his first season as the Bulls’ assistant head coach and quarterbackscoach.Barrett, who most recently served as head coach and assistantgeneral manager for the Sask<strong>at</strong>chewan Roughriders, brings a wealthof experience to <strong>Buffalo</strong> having served as a head coach, assistantgeneral manager and having played quarterback <strong>at</strong> both the DivisionI level and for 14 seasons in the CFL.Barrett became the Roughriders’ 25th head coach in 2000 andled his team to post-season appearances for five straight seasons(2002-2006), including three out of four years advancing to the WestDivision final. He was nomin<strong>at</strong>ed for the CFL’s Coach of the YearAward in 2003.Prior to becoming the Roughriders’ head coach, Barrett spenthis previous two seasons as an assistant coach with the B.C. Lions.During the 1999 campaign, Barrett coach the Lions’ receiver corps.In 1998, his first season with the Lions, Barrett began the season onthe sidelines as the quarterback coach and assistant offensive coordin<strong>at</strong>or,but was forced out of retirement and dressed as the backupquarterback for 15 games.Barrett joined the coaching fr<strong>at</strong>ernity in 1997, serving as thequarterbacks coach of the Calgary Stampeders – mentoring futureNFL Pro Bowler Jeff Garcia. During his three seasons as an assistantcoach, his team’s amassed a 32-22 regular season mark.In his stellar playing career, Barrett played in 163 regular seasonCFL games with Calgary, Toronto, B.C. and Ottawa. His career totalsinclude 23,419 yards passing, 1,656 completions in 3,078 <strong>at</strong>temptsand 133 touchdowns. He played on two teams th<strong>at</strong> advanced to theGrey Cup – the 1987 Toronto Argonauts and the 1991 Stampeders.In the ’91 Grey Cup, Barrett set a CFL record for completions with 34.In 1992, Barrett was selected as the Tom P<strong>at</strong>e recipient – voted on bythe CFL Players’ Associ<strong>at</strong>ion – while a member of the B.C. Lions forhis outstanding contributions to the league, his team and his community.Before turning pro, Barrett was a star quarterback <strong>at</strong> the <strong>University</strong>of Cincinn<strong>at</strong>i. In 1982, he co-captained the Bearc<strong>at</strong>s and earnedhonorable mention Associ<strong>at</strong>ed Press All-America honors. He and hiswife Alison have five children.Jimmy Williams, a former Nebraska gre<strong>at</strong> who spent 12 seasonsin the NFL, begins his second season as the defensive coordin<strong>at</strong>orand linebackers coach for the Bulls. Williams’ college coaching careerincludes stints <strong>at</strong> Mid-American Conference member Toledo as wellas Grand Valley St<strong>at</strong>e and his alma m<strong>at</strong>er.During his tenure as a college coach, Williams’ teams have posteda combined 32-9 record, including a MAC Championship gameberth <strong>at</strong> Toledo in 2002, a trip to the Division II n<strong>at</strong>ional championshipgame <strong>at</strong> Grand Valley St<strong>at</strong>e in 2001 and a bowl win <strong>at</strong> Nebraskain 2003. Williams also served an internship with the Kansas CityChiefs in 2004.Williams was one of the gre<strong>at</strong>est defensive players in Nebraskahistory after walking on to the team from Washington, D.C. A firstteamAll-American <strong>at</strong> Nebraska as a defensive end, Williams was chosenin the first round (15th overall) of the 1982 draft and played nineseasons with the Detroit Lions (1982-90), one with Minnesota andhis final two with Tampa Bay in 1992-93. He was twice named theLions’ team MVP in 1984 and 1987.After his playing career ended, Williams coached <strong>at</strong> PontiacNorthern High School, serving as defensive coordin<strong>at</strong>or and washead coach <strong>at</strong> Pontiac Central HS for the 2000 and 2001 seasons.Williams notes th<strong>at</strong> the motto th<strong>at</strong> reflects his life is the Biblicalquote: “Fear God, and keep his commandements: for this is thewhole duty of man.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13b).He notes th<strong>at</strong> “UB offers the student-<strong>at</strong>hlete a multitude of opportunities.Its variety of excellent resources equips the student-<strong>at</strong>hletewith the ability to excel academically, competitively and personally,through the development of character.”He and his wife Crystal are the parents of six children (Brittney,19, Nia, 16, Faith, 10, Joy, 9, Janell, 8 and Jimmy, 8).ANGUSMCCLUREOFFENSIVE LINE/RUN COORDINATORSECOND YEAR AT BUFFALOSACRAMENTO STATE, ’952007 SPRING PROSPECTUSAngus McClure returns for his second season as the Bulls’ offensiveline coach and run coordin<strong>at</strong>or. In his first season with the Bulls,his run scheming helped the development of freshman runningback James Starks, who was named second-team All-MAC selection- the first time a UB freshman earned All-League honors.McClure came to <strong>Buffalo</strong> after serving as an assistant on BillCallahan’s Nebraska staff. McClure coached the tackles <strong>at</strong> Nebraskain 2005 as well as serving in several special teams roles as well.Prior to his stint <strong>at</strong> Nebraska, McClure played a major role in
