Message from U.S. Ambassador to MoldovaDear AmCham Friends,It has been an honor working with you over the pastthree years to promote a better business environment inMoldova. I have sincerely enjoyed meeting with you andhearing about your successes and concerns in conductingbusiness in Moldova. Our Embassy values its close collaborationwith the American Chamber of Commerce andI will continue to support and strengthen this relationshipas Moldova’s economy grows and Moldova’s trade with therest of the world expands.Since my arrival in Moldova almost three years ago, I haveseen many political developments, including three parliamentaryelections, but much additional work remains.Moldova must improve its legal framework, ensure the ruleof law, and be responsive to the needs of business in orderto improve its reputation as a reliable partner and becomea destination country for foreign investments. Thesecomplex issues will take time and perseverance to resolve,but I am confident that together we can support the Moldovangovernment and people. The year 2011 promises tobe a critical one for Moldova as negotiations continue withthe European Union on a deep and comprehensive tradeagreement that will open up more business opportunitiesto the West. The United States government will continue tosupport the government of Moldova in its efforts to integratemore fully into Europe.AmCham and its members are excellent emissaries forgood business practices and corporate citizenship in Moldovathrough leadership by example. Events, such as theannual conference on Corporate Social Responsibility, illustratehow AmCham supports economic development andsocial well-being in Moldova. The Embassy and AmChamwill continue to assist Moldova in its progress toward democratic,economic, and judicial reforms in 2011.
