PrefaceThe third edition of Family Medicine Q&A, in therespected NMS series, is more student friendly and moreamenable to reference in that there is a complete index.The main objective of the third edition remains the provisionof study material for students in preparation forUSMLE Steps 2 and 3 and Family Medicine clerkships.Every item from the second edition was revisited; obsoletematerial was deleted and material still relevant was presentedanew from different pedagogical angles. New questionsare more likely to have originated from materialtaken from the latest Scientific Assembly of the AmericanAcademy of Family Medicine and from late issues of theAmerican Family Physician. A few questions remain virtuallyverbatim from the second edition because they bearrepetition, unchanged in form from the second edition.As with the first and second editions, the exacting standardsof Lippincott Williams & Wilkins ensure qualityworthy of the NMS.
