NURSING (RN) GRADUATES iNEST VIRGINIA BY DEGREE\..;..)oBetween 1998 and 2008 a total <strong>of</strong> 8,961 students graduated. The total number <strong>of</strong> graduates include; Baccalaureate graduates 3,997,and Associate Degree graduates 4,964.The class <strong>of</strong> 2007 had the largest number <strong>of</strong> graduates with 1,162. The lo<strong>west</strong> number <strong>of</strong> graduates occurred in 2001 with 598 graduates.The Bachelor Degree graduate numbers increased between 1993 and 1994 by 217 in 1993 and 310 in 1994. This increase was stablethrough 1996 when there was a slight decrease every other year until 2002. Since 2002 there has been a steady increase <strong>of</strong> about 30additional BSN graduates each year until 2006 when the number increased by 104 and in 2007 increased by 101 graduates. There were84 fewer BSN graduates this year than in 2007.Between 1988 and 2008 a total <strong>of</strong> 16,895 students graduated from schools <strong>of</strong> nursing preparing <strong>for</strong> initial licensure. The graph on theopposite page reflects in<strong>for</strong>mation <strong>for</strong> this twenty year period. The graph does not include <strong>registered</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>essional <strong>nurses</strong> pursuingadditional nursing degrees, such as a Bachelor degree after obtaining an Associate degree, or a Master's or Doctoral degree.
