SMAT2008V37COUPLED MULTIBODY – FINITE ELEMENT MODEL FOR THESTUDY OF AN OFF ROAD VEHICLE FRAMEStefan TABACU 1 , Nicolae PANDREA 2 , Nicolae-Doru STĂNESCU 2 , Ion TABACU 1Abstract: The paper presents computational methods applied to the study of an off road vehicle frame. The structureis firstly analyzed using finite element method. Internal energy consumed by the plastic hinges is determined and thenthe reaction torque and joint stiffness are computed. A multibody model is also developed and analyzed. The equationof motion and solving method are detailed and then applied for the structure model. Joint – plastic hinges data areexchanged between the numerical models and the results are compared. Optimization procedures can be defined forstructural crashworthiness improvement. Keywords: Vehicle frame, numerical models, finite element method, multibody method, numerical solution, plastichinge characterization.Ştefan TABACU, Assoc.Prof.Dr.Eng., University of Pitesti, Faculty of Mechanics andTechnology, Automotive Department, 1 Targu din Vale str., Pitesti, 110070, Arges, ROMANIA,email: stefan.tabacu@upit.ro;Nicolae PANDREA, Prof.Dr.Eng., University of Pitesti, Faculty of Mechanics and Technology,Applied Mechanics Department, 1 Targu din Vale str., Pitesti, 110070, Arges, ROMANIA;Nicolae Doru STĂNESCU, Assoc.Prof.Dr.Eng., University of Pitesti, Faculty of Mechanics andTechnology, Applied Mechanics Department, 1 Targu din Vale str., Pitesti, 110070, Arges,ROMANIA;Ion TABACU, Prof.Dr.Eng., University of Pitesti, Faculty of Mechanics and Technology,Automotive Department, 1 Targu din Vale str., Pitesti, 110070, Arges, ROMANIASMAT2008V38DIMENSIONING OF THE HYDROSTATIC TRANSMISSION WITHPRIMARY ADJUSTMENT FOR A ROAD VEHICLEStelian TARULESCU, Victor BENCHE, Radu TARULESCUAbstract: The Diesel engines operating characteristics being less adjustable, is necessary a hydrauliccoupling transformer that puts in concord the relative rigid momentum of the engine with the great variationsof the useful momentum. The authors offer a graphic-analytical research for the motor vehicle hydrostatictransmission agreement with the driving engine characteristics. The method used of the authors offers a goodagreement of the calculus results with the known experimental data. Their precision is priority determined byplotting the dependence of the engine, hydraulic coupling transformer and motor vehicle efficiency on theconstructive characteristics. Keywords: engine, Diesel, hydrostatic, transmision.Stelian Tarulescu, Assist.eng., Automotive and Engines Department, Transilvania University ofBrasov, s.tarulescu@unitbv.ro.Victor Benche, Prof.dr.eng., Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics Department, TransilvaniaUniversity of Brasov;Radu Tarulescu, Assist.eng., Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics Department, TransilvaniaUniversity of Brasov, radu.tarulescu@unitbv.ro;23
