SMAT2008E14STEADY-STATE ANALYSIS OF THE DISPLACEMENTS, STRESSESAND STRAINS FIELDS FOR AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINEUSING THE FINITE ELEMENT METHODClaudiu OBOGEANU 1 ,Marian POPESCU 2 , Gheorghe POPA 3 , Florentin POPESCU 4Abstract: A numerical analysis with finite elements method was performed in order to obtain thedisplacements, stresses and strains fields for a four-stroke engine mechanism. I have evolved and analysed thecomponents response of the engine mechanism. The steady-state analysis was developed for two rotational speedconditions. The numerical analysis was evolved for maximum acceleration condition. The research results will bemarked out in a proper graphical type of Ansys software. Keywords: engine mechanism, steady-state, acceleration, displacement, stress, strain.1 Claudiu OBOGEANU, Ph.D. Eng., Associate Professor, University of Craiova, Faculty ofMechanics, Automotive Engineering Department, obogeanu@hotmail.com.2 Marian POPESCU, Ph.D. Student, University Transilvania Brasov, Faculty of Mechanics.3 Gheorghe POPA, Ph.D. Student Eng., Associate Professor, University of Craiova, Faculty ofMechanics, Automotive Engineering Department4 Florentin POPESCU, Ph.D. Student, University Transilvania Brasov, Faculty of Mechanics.SMAT2008E12THE INFLUENCE OF ETHANOL-GASOLINE BLENDS ON SPARKIGNITION ENGINE OPERATION, PERFORMANCE AND EMISSIONCHARACTERISTICSDaniel MINIŞAN , Veneţia SANDUAbstract: The paper presents besides some technical aspects regarding the use of ethanol-gasoline blends in sparkignition engines some experimental determinations corresponding to the vehicle operation on conventional fuel and onethanol-gasoline blend containing 5% ethanol concentration. The technical aspects were focused on the chemical and physical properties like the density, the lower heatingvalue, octane number and volatility of the considered blend and the effect on these properties in respect to ethanolconcentration.Pollutants emissions were assessed with an NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) emission test performed on apassenger car being also assessed engine start-up time, oxygen sensor warm-up time and catalytic converter warm-uptime.Keywords: spark ignition engine, NEDC emission test, ethanol-gasoline blends, renewable fuels.Daniel MINIŞAN, Student, Road Vehicles and Engines Department, minisandaniel@yahoo.com,tel.0368438383.Veneţia SANDU, Associate Proffesor, PhD, Transylvania University Brasov, sandu@unitbv.ro,tel.026841292146
