The New Clarendon Laboratory (now the Lindemann Building) was built to the north ofthe Townsend Building in 1939.Physical Chemistry was constructed to the east of the site in 1939-40, and extended in1958-59. Physiology was constructed to the east of the Electrical Laboratory in 1949-53. Microbiology was constructed to the northeast of the Museum in 1959-60.
