<strong>EMI</strong> ShieldingAccessoriesThe BAND-IT ® Clamping System<strong>EMI</strong> Shield Termination InstructionsH1. Prepare cable braid for terminationprocess (Figure 1).2. Push braid forward over adapterretention lip to the adapter inclinepoint (or .4" [10.2mm] minimumbraid length). Milk braid as requiredto remove slack and ensure a snugfit around the shield termination area(Figure 2).3. Prepare the band in the followingmanner:IMPORTANT: Due to Connector/Adapter circumference, it may benecessary to prepare the bandaround the cable or retentionarea.A. Roll band through the buckle slottwice (bands must be doublecoiled).B. Pull on band until mark ( ) iswithin approximately .250 inch(6.4mm) of buckle slot (Figure3). The band may be tightenedfurther if desired.NOTE: Prepared band shouldhave ( ) mark visible as shownin Figure 3.Shield Termination ClampingProcess (Figures 4 thru 8)NOTE: To free tool handles, moveholding clips to center of tool.4. Squeeze gripper release leverand insert band into the front endopening of the too (NOTE: Circularportion of looped band must alwaysface downward).5. Aligning the band and tool with theshield termination area, squeezeblack pull-up handle repeatedlyusing short strokes until it locksagainst tool body.
