These statements can be both positive and negative. Theidea is to think about what makes you who you are.Ask students if there are any “I am...” statements that they would like tochange. What can they do to change them? Go around the room and askstudents who are comfortable to share two of their statements. Whenstudents are finished sharing, ask for volunteers to talk about what theylearned from the exercise.51
