Full Mission Bridge Simulator (FMBS)<br />
Key Features<br />
The Integrated Bridge Environment consists of the<br />
following standard equipment designed to<br />
produce a realistic bridge environment:<br />
• 9 channel 70” LCD‐based visual system that<br />
provides 270 degrees field of view<br />
• Visual channel with ability to pan and view<br />
360 degree around the vessel and select any<br />
location for close up view in binocular mode<br />
• 2 Radars/ARPA’s<br />
• 1 ECDIS and chart table<br />
• Conning station<br />
• Separate steering station<br />
• Full GMDSS Simulation and VHF<br />
• Overhead display of navigation, weather,<br />
propulsion data, etc.<br />
• Engine and thruster controls<br />
• Sound signal controls<br />
• Navigation aids that include GPS, Echo<br />
Sounder (with recorder), Doppler Log, AIS,<br />
Course Recorder etc.<br />
• Mooring panel with capability to pay out,<br />
heave and make fast mooring ropes<br />
• Anchoring panel with facility to walk back,<br />
drop and heave up port or starboard anchors<br />
• Tug control panel with facility to deploy tugs<br />
in push or pull modes around the vessel<br />
• Alarms panel<br />
• Close Circuit Television (CCTV) for recording<br />
and debriefing.<br />
• Instructor station enabling <strong>com</strong>plete monitor‐<br />
ing and control on exercise environment<br />
Target Vessels<br />
To create a realistic exercise environment, all 'own<br />
ships types' and the following additional vessel<br />
types can be used in the creation of exercises: tug<br />
boat , sand barge, fast ferry, navy ship, helicopter,<br />
life boat, life raft, sailboat, OSV boat, and pilot boat.<br />
Own Ship Selection<br />
Accurate hydrodynamic motion models and visual<br />
models can be used in the FMBS and mini‐bridges<br />
alike for:<br />
• Bulk Carrier ‐ Handymax, Panamax, Aframax<br />
• Tanker ‐ LNG, VLGC, VLCC, Chemical tanker<br />
• Container Vessel ‐ Small (1100 TEU), Medium<br />
(5500 TEU), Large (9000 TEU)<br />
• RO/RO<br />
The model of a smaller feeder vessel/coaster is<br />
under development. High fidelity of models en‐<br />
sures accurate simulation in respect to characteris‐<br />
tics and behavior based on surrounding elements<br />
(i.e. sea state, under keel clearance, side clear‐<br />
ance).
