15 ARTIST & CURATOR TALKS KW|AG Talks: Ryan Rice (Curator of ANTHEM) FASTWÜRMS Phil Irish Nancy Campbell (Curator the 4th KW|AG Biennial) Germaine Koh (Curator of Building Berlin) Sun Life Financial Art Talks: In 2005, KW|AG and the Perimeter Institute formed a partnership to bring cutting edge visual art presentations by distinguished artists and cultural figures to Waterloo Region. The commitment to the world of ideas shared by both institutions, and the desire to see art as part of the constellation of contemporary discussion was the basis for this new partnership. Each presentation was hosted by Robert Enright in a lecture and interview format. Enright has a distinguished career as a writer, University of Guelph Professor, and Senior Contributing Editor of Border Crossings magazine. Shirin Neshat, January 21 Shirin Neshat, the Iranian-born photographer and filmmaker, shared her hypnotic visual allegories of exile, power and violence before treating the audience to a preview of scenes from her latest film titled Women without Men. Janine Antoni, May 13 Janine Antoni, the Barbados-born multimedia artist, provided a generous tour through her practice focusing largely on nurturing and sustenance, and what we need to do as humans to stay alive, physically and emotionally.
