“As Director General, it is my privilege to lead this organization. I wish to acknowledge KW|AG’s Management Team, who report to me directly, and who in turn, will acknowledge the great work of their teams. Shelly Mitchell, Manager of Finance and Administration, is called upon to handle multiple, often unanticipated, diverse projects and she does so with such dedication. She oversaw the renovation and settling of an estate gift involving a number of willing staff, volunteers and contractors resulting in cost savings. Her efforts, while always amazing, went into new realms this past year. I wish to thank Crystal Mowry who assumed leadership of our Curatorial and Collections program and Allan MacKay, past Curatorial and Collections Consultant, who is now pursuing his art full-time. Thank you for a rich and vibrant exhibition program that has attracted attention and support. I look forward to its continuance with Crystal at the helm. Tasha Ethelston, Director of Public Programs and Education, furthered her education toward a Masters Degree in Communications Studies at Laurier. KW|AG will be even richer as a result of her enhanced knowledge when she returns. We have been very fortunate to have Agnieszka Chalas join us in the interim. Agnieszka has provided exemplary leadership to her dedicated team. We are so fortunate to have Caroline Oliver to lead our Marketing and Development initiatives. Her vision and leadership have contributed to the Gallery’s public image and profile, enabling us to tell our stories to varied audiences, resulting in increased involvement and support. I am amazed at the breadth of her knowledge and the depth of her energy and commitment. Thank you all! – Alf Bogusky “In the Curatorial department, conversation is essential to how we work together, and in many cases, why we work together. I am so fortunate to have colleagues who bring curiosity, intelligence, individuality and dedication to their roles. These essential ingredients, along with a measure of good humour, are why we look for challenges and thrive on risk. Curatorial and Collections Consultant, Allan MacKay, has been a subtle and powerful influence on our team and the KW community. His unassuming wisdom and generosity set a high standard to follow when it comes to how we treat each other and the artists with which we work. I am so thankful for the opportunity to have worked with him over the past few years. Special thanks go to Curatorial Assistant / Registrar Cindy Wayvon for her efficient grant writing, administrative and technical support, her thoughtful approach to providing a context for our collection in contemporary exhibitions; Curatorial Assistant Barb Hobot for her insight, research skills, and enthusiasm for expanding our arsenal of collaborators; Preparator Amy Roger for her skill, good nature, and selflessness when it is most needed; and the many volunteers and casual staff whose generosity we greatly appreciate. Thanks also to our KW|AG colleagues who, through their myriad ways, promote the value of visual arts to our region. Finally, special thanks to the collaborating artists and gallery visitors who have kept the conversation about ideas on-going.” – Crystal Mowry “An ambitious program schedule, such as ours, requires a great deal of collaboration to plan and deliver. I would particularly like to thank Alex Krueger, Public Programs Coordinator; Cristin Osborne School Programs Coordinator; Steve Lavigne, Mindy Alexander, Tarin Hughes and Karoline Varin-Jarkowsky, Artist Educators; in addition to our team of dedicated Docents for their contributions to the success of KW|AG’s educational programming in 2009.” – Agnieszka Chalas “The Development and Marketing team is a dynamic group of wonderfully dedicated professionals who garner support for and interest in the Gallery by building a relationship with and engaging the community. Thank you to these team members, each of whom does fabulous work, provides wonderful service, and is a delightful peer to be associated with: Matt Dupuis, who works at a blistering pace to create dynamic new print materials and videos, and take great pictures to help tell the Gallery story; Eleanor Mueller, who nurtures strong connections with donors and sponsors, and keeps the cycle of events and activities flowing smoothly; Stephen Radbourn, who keeps our data up-todate, our communications current and greets our guests with a warm enthusiasm; and Tracy Smith, who has boldly moved the Gallery into exciting new directions with an outstanding website, and inventive e-communications and social media initiatives. Thanks are also extended to the Canadian Arts and Heritage Sustainability Program and to eSolutionsGroup, KW|AG’s online marketing and business solutions provider, for their support of the website project. A special note of thanks (and gold stars) goes to Karen Mayfield and the terrific team at eSolutionsGroup. I would also like to express my appreciation to Robin Fowler from the Offord Group for her wisdom, insight and advice on the Gallery’s Major Gifts/Planned Giving program. – Caroline Oliver "KW|AG was open 362 days in 2009 with 31,085 visitors/participants who were greeted by our front desk staff. KW|AG's Visitor Services Assistant and Gallery Attendants are the first faces that Gallery visitors see. I want to thank each member of the front desk team for your dedication in representing KW|AG on the front lines. Thank you to Meghan Schnarr, Crystal Ellis, Visitor Services Assistants; and Mindy Alexander, Ketri Grise, Sarah Kernohan, and Terrina Reitzel, for welcoming visitors so warmly, answering general inquires and handling our registrations." – Shelly Mitchell ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
