Lexington, KY, and a daughter, Mrs.<br />
J. Gilmore, are with him.<br />
Roy Mothershead, aged 18, went to<br />
an infirmary in the city Tuesday to<br />
undergo an operation for an abscess<br />
in his head, following lagrippe. Roy<br />
is a nephew <strong>of</strong> Mrs. Tom Melton.<br />
Miss Emma Cloud was seriously ill<br />
last week.<br />
Will Becker has put in a telephone on<br />
the Zoneton-Okolona line, making 28<br />
boxes, and we have excellent service.<br />
Mr. Curley, an invalid, who has<br />
boarded with John Brooks for nearly<br />
a year, has returned to the city for<br />
treatment.<br />
Mrs. Tom Hornbeck, Shepherdsville,<br />
spent Tuesday with her brothers and<br />
sister here.<br />
Joe Ball has been ill with lagrippe.<br />
<strong>The</strong>o. Alcorn <strong>of</strong> Little Union was<br />
with his father last week.<br />
Died Sunday, February 13, Mrs.<br />
Thos. Jones, <strong>of</strong> pneumonia, after an<br />
illness <strong>of</strong> three days. Her remains<br />
were interred in Penn Run Cemetery,<br />
after funeral services at the church,<br />
conducted by Rev. Ehrman<br />
Thornberry. Her only son, Harry<br />
Jones, who, with his family, reside in<br />
the same house, is recovering from<br />
pneumonia. She leaves also her<br />
husband, and one daughter, Mrs.<br />
Dave Smith, to mourn her loss.<br />

Dr. W. J. Holtzclaw preached a<br />
strong sermon at Little Flock. With<br />
this service, Dr. Holtzclaw severs his<br />
connection with us as pastor, going to<br />
the First Baptist Church at Robinson,<br />
IL, one <strong>of</strong> the wealthiest and most<br />
influential churches in that state. He<br />
leaves here because he has found it<br />
advantageous to place the publication<br />
<strong>of</strong> his books with the Revel. Fleming<br />
Co. <strong>of</strong> Chicago, and he will be<br />
located near that city.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Hebron School, under the<br />
management <strong>of</strong> the capable teacher,<br />
Miss Mayme Roby gave an<br />
entertainment Tuesday, the proceeds<br />
devoted to the library fund. Little<br />
Alice and Patrick Pope took part in<br />
program as General and Mrs.<br />
Washington.<br />
Miss Ethel Brooks has returned to her<br />
home in Pontiac, IL.<br />
J. W. Jackson and S. W. Brooks, two<br />
<strong>of</strong> the Zoneton precinct prominent<br />

mother, Mrs. Jess Griffin, who died<br />
Sunday morning at home in the<br />
Knobs and was buried Monday near<br />
her home.<br />
Tom Moore spent Sunday with his<br />
brothers here. We hear he is to leave<br />
Wednesday for Colorado for his<br />
health.<br />
Jas. Rouse was out from Louisville to<br />
attend the funeral <strong>of</strong> his sister, Mrs.<br />
Jess Griffin.<br />
H. H. Mapother, who is a traveling<br />
man in the South, is home on a visit<br />
to his wife and son.<br />
Tom Mapother, wife and child, <strong>of</strong><br />
Louisville, are spending a few days<br />
with brother, Harry Mapother and<br />
family.<br />

Mrs. Minor Hardin and children left<br />
last Tuesday night for Colorado. Mr.<br />
Hardin has two <strong>of</strong> the boys with him<br />
here.<br />
Mrs. Salina Vaughn died at St.<br />
Anthony's Hospital in Louisville last<br />
Tuesday, the 15th, and was brought<br />
to her home near Cupio, where she<br />
was buried Thursday in Knob Creek<br />
Cemetery.<br />
Wm. Barrett is confined to his room,<br />
suffering very much with<br />
rheumatism.<br />
