Child welfare agenciessee an increase in the number of neglected, abused, and orphaned childrenneeding services as a result of living with adults who abuse and producemethamphetamine.• Environmental harm. A methamphetamine laboratory generates five to sixpounds of hazardous waste <strong>for</strong> each pound of methamphetamine produced.Methamphetamine cooks routinely dump the toxic waste into streams, rivers,fields, backyards, and sewage systems, posing immediate and long-termenvironmental health risks.
