11On welcoming <strong>the</strong> announcement <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> IntegratedTechnology Hub, John Maddock, Chief Executive Officer,<strong>Box</strong> <strong>Hill</strong> <strong>Institute</strong>, recognised <strong>the</strong> substantial input from<strong>Institute</strong> staff, students, <strong>the</strong> eastern suburbs communityand, in particular, <strong>the</strong> <strong>Institute</strong>’s industry supporters:“The collaboration and input from all parts <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Institute</strong>’scommunity, particularly our industry partners, has beenessential to <strong>the</strong> development <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> proposal” John Maddocksaid.“We now look forward to working with our partnersto ensure that <strong>the</strong> final design <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> facility and <strong>the</strong>associated redevelopment <strong>of</strong> our programs continues toencompass innovative and creative approaches to educationand training, using latest flexible delivery methods andtechnology to ensure high levels <strong>of</strong> technology literacy”John Maddock added.At a total cost <strong>of</strong> $41 million, <strong>the</strong> Integrated Technology Hubwill create an additional 3,103 student places annually. Theseadditional places will contribute to <strong>the</strong> government’s nationalgoals and objectives, including Australia’s performanceagainst OECD indicators, by providing an:• Increase <strong>of</strong> 30% <strong>of</strong> learners in Certificate III and above• Increase <strong>of</strong> 30% in <strong>the</strong> number <strong>of</strong> apprentices• Increase <strong>of</strong> 30% in apprentices moving into full-timeemployment• Increase <strong>of</strong> 24% in learners studying higher-levelqualificationsOn completion, <strong>the</strong> building will be a model <strong>of</strong> environmentalsustainability, with green star accreditation and will providelifelong learning opportunities to meet industry requirementsin <strong>the</strong> building services and electro-mechanical technologiesareas.For more information on scholarships and howyour organisation can get involved visit:www.boxhill.edu.au/scholarshipswww.boxhill.edu.au<strong>Out</strong>OfThe<strong>Box</strong> AUGUST 2012
