16In pr<strong>of</strong>ileThe World’sFood and wine lovers celebrateall things food at <strong>the</strong> World’sLongest Lunch!Longest LunchHappy foodies enjoying good foodand company at <strong>the</strong> world’s longest lunch.Hosted by Manningham Council and sponsored by <strong>Box</strong> <strong>Hill</strong> <strong>Institute</strong>, 150 foodiesattended <strong>the</strong> sell out event on Friday 2 March.Held at <strong>the</strong> banks <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Yarra River in Warrandyte, and <strong>the</strong>med around “uncork <strong>the</strong>past”, Head Chef and <strong>Box</strong> <strong>Hill</strong> <strong>Institute</strong> teacher Andrew Sankey, saw <strong>the</strong> opportunity tolink guests back to <strong>the</strong> past, more than one hundred years ago.The four course menu consisted <strong>of</strong> a classic style Pork Pie for Entrée, Confit <strong>of</strong> YarraValley Fresh Water Salmon as <strong>the</strong> Fish Course, Char Grilled Eye Fillet Medallions for<strong>the</strong> Meat Course and Baked Spiced Apple for Dessert accompanied with délice <strong>of</strong> KingIsland Reserve Black Label Cloth Wrapped CheddarThe <strong>Institute</strong> would like to thank <strong>the</strong> following staff and students who made <strong>the</strong> day sucha success:• Andrew Sankey and <strong>the</strong> Year 11 VCAL students who cooked <strong>the</strong>delicious meal with help from Nathan Veach, Jos Ca<strong>the</strong>rine and Steve Kenny• Cary Warren who led <strong>the</strong> service team <strong>of</strong> Certificate lV in Hospitality studentswith help from Rachel Medew and Mary Vowles• Amelia Eaton and Ritchie Hewett who led <strong>the</strong> Certificate lll in Events studentswho helped set up <strong>the</strong> <strong>the</strong>ming and <strong>the</strong> table before service• Tracey Fearn who guided beauty students whilst <strong>the</strong>y pampered <strong>the</strong> mind, bodyand soul <strong>of</strong> diners with shoulder, neck and hand massages all day“This high pr<strong>of</strong>ile event provides <strong>Box</strong> <strong>Hill</strong> <strong>Institute</strong> students with a wonderful practicalopportunity to experience a real live event in <strong>the</strong> making and reinforces what <strong>the</strong>y learnin <strong>the</strong>ir studies, enhances <strong>the</strong>ir resumes and builds <strong>the</strong>ir confidence” stated DebraTrail, Centre Manager Hospitality and Tourism Studies. “Working at <strong>the</strong> World’s LongestLunch is a great opportunity for <strong>the</strong> students, <strong>the</strong>y need to be able to manage <strong>the</strong>ir timeappropriately to ensure all meals are served at <strong>the</strong> same time, just one error can put <strong>the</strong>whole event out, and so <strong>the</strong>re really is a lot <strong>of</strong> pressure on <strong>the</strong> students”.
