TALENT SEARCH<br />
TALENT SEARCH—HONORS MATH<br />
Homework is assigned and grades are<br />
given in these courses. Students are expected to<br />
spend at least 50 percent independent study hours<br />
outside <strong>of</strong> class reading their text and preparing<br />
Eligibility<br />
The Talent Search program is <strong>of</strong>fered in conjunction<br />
with the Illinois Regional Office <strong>of</strong> Education, <strong>DuPage</strong><br />
County. Students who have tested in the 95th<br />
percentile or higher on an appropriate achievement<br />
test (MAT., ACT, SAT, Iowa, EXPLORE, etc.) are<br />
eligible to apply. Students who believe they are<br />
qualified but who do not have an appropriate test<br />
score may petition for enrollment by calling the Talent<br />
Search <strong>of</strong>fice, (630) 942-2208.<br />
for class. Class time is spent on application and<br />
problem solving. The Honors Math, Biology, English<br />
Works, World Geography and Latin classes run<br />
Monday to Friday.<br />

Registration<br />
New students must submit a copy <strong>of</strong> their<br />
standardized test scores along with the mail-in<br />
registration form. Returning students may register by<br />
mail, fax (630) 942-3785, or phone (630) 942-2208.<br />
Please note: No student under the age <strong>of</strong> 16 can<br />
be left unescorted on the campus. Parents are<br />
responsible for escorting students to and from all<br />
classes, unless the student is enrolled in supervision.<br />
Supervision is available at the Parkview Elementary<br />
School and the Naperville Yellow Box locations only.<br />
Please note: Talent Search honors classes are not<br />
eligible for high school credit. For high school credit<br />
classes, see your school guidance counselor.<br />

Honors Algebra I<br />
This course <strong>of</strong>fers the equivalent <strong>of</strong> two semesters<br />
<strong>of</strong> high school honors Algebra I, from algebraic<br />
expressions through quadratic equations and<br />
functions. Textbook rental included.<br />
Honors Algebra II with Trigonometry<br />
This course <strong>of</strong>fers the equivalent <strong>of</strong> two semesters<br />
<strong>of</strong> high school honors Intermediate Algebra,<br />
from linear equations and inequalities through<br />
trigonometric functions. Prerequisite: Algebra I.<br />
Textbook rental included.<br />
Honors Geometry<br />
This course <strong>of</strong>fers the equivalent <strong>of</strong> two semesters <strong>of</strong><br />
high school honors Geometry (plane and coordinate;<br />
sophomore year course in a conventional system).<br />
Pro<strong>of</strong>s, triangle congruence, similarity, parallelism,<br />
circles and coordinates are among the topics<br />
covered. Textbook rental included.<br />
Honors Pre-algebra<br />
For Talent Search students entering grades 5 to 7<br />
in the 95th percentile. This equivalent <strong>of</strong> the last<br />
3 quarters <strong>of</strong> middle school Pre-algebra covers<br />
arithmetic operations through an introduction to<br />
algebraic concepts.<br />
Honors Pre-calculus<br />
This course <strong>of</strong>fers the equivalent <strong>of</strong> two semesters<br />
<strong>of</strong> high school honors Pre-calculus, from algebraic<br />
relations through mathematical induction. Topics<br />
also include linear, quadratic, exponential, rational<br />
and logarithmic functions, graphing, conics and<br />
trigonometry. Textbook rental included.<br />
Introduction to Calculus<br />
Get ahead <strong>of</strong> the game before tackling Advanced<br />
Placement (AP) Calculus by previewing some <strong>of</strong><br />
the topics in this non-credit introductory course.<br />
Strengthen your prerequisite skills while exploring<br />
concepts including limits, continuity, graphical<br />
analysis, derivatives, integrals and their applications.<br />
With the help <strong>of</strong> an expert calculus instructor,<br />
become familiar with AP exam questions that<br />
analyze situations numerically, graphically and<br />
analytically. Textbook rental included.
