Leadership Training Descriptions<br />
Leader Presentation<br />
Students identify and research a leader they admire<br />
and develop a presentation for the last day <strong>of</strong> their<br />
leadership session.<br />
Resume Writing/Interview Skills<br />
Create a resume that highlights your experiences<br />
and accomplishments. Learn different resume<br />
formats and the advantages and disadvantages <strong>of</strong><br />
each. Practice mock interviews.<br />
TEEN X-TREME<br />
Teen X-Treme camps <strong>of</strong>fer older students all-day<br />
experiences featuring some <strong>of</strong> the hottest topics in<br />
town! Class schedule is from 9 a.m. to 2:50 p.m.,<br />
with an hour for lunch. Early (7 to 9 a.m.), lunch<br />
Self-Concept and Leadership Development<br />
Through role-playing and teamwork, practice<br />
making decisions regarding critical situations drawn<br />
from past and contemporary issues. Foster group<br />
decision-making and enhance problem identification<br />
and communication skills through a variety <strong>of</strong><br />
activities, as you learn strategies to help you cope<br />
with other’s expectations, peer pressure, and your<br />
own feelings about failure and success.<br />
(noon to 1 p.m.), and late (2:50 to 6 p.m.) supervision<br />
is included. Please note buildings and rooms below.<br />
Students may bring a sack lunch or purchase a lunch<br />
in the cafeteria. Camps run Monday to Thursday.<br />

Speaking Confidently<br />
Develop the skills to become an engaging, dynamic<br />
public speaker. Improve your confidence in speaking<br />
and overcome the fear associated with public<br />
presentations. Deal with difficult audiences and<br />
skillfully manage question-and-answer sessions.<br />
Team Building Concepts<br />
Identify the factors that result in effective team work.<br />
Overcome the frustrations <strong>of</strong> working with others and<br />
learn new strategies to become a more effective team<br />
member. Team building exercises are used to reinforce<br />
the concepts.<br />

Teen X-Treme Descriptions<br />
Algebra/Geometry I<br />
Master algebraic expressions, radicals and coordinates,<br />
while investigating geometric ideas and relationships. A<br />
project-centered approach uses algebraic equations to<br />
solve simple geometry problems.<br />
Cooking<br />
Learn basic cooking skills and prepare simple<br />
recipes from soup to dessert. Emphasis is on healthy<br />
recipes and may include broiling, sautéing, stirfrying,<br />
chopping, cutting, mixing, and folding.<br />
Creative Writing<br />
Students learn how to write stories, poems, plays,<br />
speeches and essays, as well as the fundamentals <strong>of</strong><br />
the English language. Various authors are introduced<br />
and discussed.<br />
Educational Success Series<br />
Students learn skills needed for a successful high<br />
school experience. Class includes speed reading, note<br />
taking, writing papers, and test-taking strategies.<br />
Game Design and Development<br />
<strong>Discover</strong> the art <strong>of</strong> computer game creation. <strong>College</strong><br />
instructors show you how to design and program<br />
your own 2-D computer game with Game Maker<br />
s<strong>of</strong>tware. Returning students are welcome to<br />
continue improving their skills.<br />
Guitar Odyssey<br />
Your musical journey begins as you build and paint<br />
your own electric guitar. Learn secrets behind<br />
amps and other accessories that bring your metallic<br />
masterpiece to life. Beginners and experienced<br />
rockers welcome. Guitar kit included.<br />
Sewing Camp<br />
Learn the basics <strong>of</strong> machine sewing. Once you have<br />
the basic concept <strong>of</strong> putting the material together<br />
and learn the sewing machine, the possibilities are<br />
endless. Supply list mailed out before start <strong>of</strong> class.
