High School Credit Course Descriptions<br />

Business and<br />

Consumer Education<br />

Consumer Education<br />

This equivalent <strong>of</strong> one semester <strong>of</strong> high school<br />

Consumer Education promotes the study <strong>of</strong> financial<br />

principles and consumer practices on which<br />

individual and family welfare depend. Topics include:<br />

career planning, budgeting, taxes, insurance,<br />

housing, investments, buying techniques, product<br />

evaluation and consumer resources.<br />

Economics<br />

This course is the equivalent to one semester <strong>of</strong><br />

high school Economics. It is a study <strong>of</strong> the American<br />

economic system and its role in the global economy.<br />

Topics include money, taxes, investment, supply and<br />

demand, labor issues, international trade and global<br />

economic systems.<br />

Computer Applications<br />

This course is designed to assist students with<br />

computer skills needed for success in high school<br />

and beyond. Pr<strong>of</strong>iciency in Micros<strong>of</strong>t Office<br />

programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access<br />

and Publisher to building simple Web pages (for a<br />

more in-depth Web building course, see Web Design<br />

description). Keyboard speed and technique are<br />

developed through drills and additional assignments.<br />

Prerequisite: Keyboarding<br />

Computer Graphics<br />

In this computer-driven course, students learn 2-D<br />

and 3-D designs commonly used in commercial art.<br />

Grades are given based on class projects. Contact<br />

your guidance counselor for credit eligibility.<br />

impact daily nutrition and wellness practices on<br />

wellness choices; selection and preparation <strong>of</strong><br />

Guidelines and My Plate activities; safety, sanitation,<br />
