Mythanks also goes to the many committed andpassionate members of the QGBOTA, whichare the driving force behind the association.Special thanks to Rob and Wendy Gauntfor their tremendous efforts running our BBQevery Friday night at Albion Park and to PeterHinds for his hard work looking after theLawnton trial track.And thank you to everyone who has beeninvolved, associated or helped the QGBOTAover the past year, including the GRA andthe greyhound racing clubs.The new year holds exciting potential weare eager to seize and thanks to the efforts ofcommittees and members of past and presentwe are well placed for a fantastic year.We are passionately dedicated to seeingour association grow and continue to be apositive organisation within greyhoundracing.Bob DoakBy CHRIS McLEODContinued from Oct editionBOBDoak's next top liner was GeminiTodd.Another black sprinter who also wonfour races at Harold Park and two atWentworth Park, he was a finalist in the1970 Bi-Annual Classic [now the PeterMosman Memorial).However, in 1971 Gemini Todd peakedand won the Winter Stakes at Harold Parkas well as the Central Coast Championshipat Gosford, South Coast SprintChampionship at Dapto in record time andGrafton and Wauchope Cup in recordtime.Gemini Todd was the first in a long lineof Sydney city sprinters trained by BobDoak between 1970 and 1977.Considering that he rarely trainedmore than four or five greyhounds at anyone time his record was quite remarkable.The next was the bitch Shane'sMonaro. She was fifth in the 1978 VicPeters Memorial Classic at Harold Parkbut then scored a brilliant win in the LadiesBracelet.PacificPark227 Goldmine Road, OrmeauTrialsCircle & StraightBy appointment onlyCall TOM0414 827392Brad NewmanI encourage any licensee interested,passionate and concerned about the prosperityof our industry to join the QGBOTA.Lawnton TrackReport by Peter HindsAfter a long delay caused by complicatedand frustrating council approval negotiations,the Lawnton track extension is now completedand much appreciated by our long sufferingand loyal key holders and casual users.I must emphasise this would not bepossible without long hours, months ofvoluntary hard labour by that great group ofhelpers who gave not only their time but manyof the equipment and materials that cut costsgreatly.For general information, the track is now244m from front of boxes to catching pen.We would like to thank Neal Thompsonfor donating the joiners to stand the iron posts.Through his powder coating businessNSW Greyhound of the year ShapelyEscort was fourth but took out the CentralCoast Championship at Gosford.A litter by The Smoother out ofAcademy Lass comprising of just four pupsturned out to be all city winners. AcademyQueen and Toddono both won at HaroldPark, but the undoubted stars were theblack dogs Dusty Trail and Dusty Rapid.Dusty Trail won his Maiden art HaroldPark in the world record time of 26.38 andthen took out the 1973 Bi -Annual Classic.He then ran second to the outsiderRushin' Moss in the National Derby andwas unplaced to the mighty New Marinerin the National Sprint Championship.Dusty Rapid broke Dusty Trails' worldmaiden record scoring in 26.36 but didn'tquite manage to reached the same loftyheights as his littermate.The only dog that Bob Doak did notown or breed, was the black bitch LikelyLight.He took over her preparation after theSt Leger winner's form slipped and he gother back on track to win the NationalFuturityBreak-ins$60per weekGBOTA NewsWallaby he powder coated the boxes.John Allison donated the iron to enclosethe extension from the neighbouring propertyto prevent the greyhounds being distracted bythe domestic dogs. He has also donated thepipe stays.Patrick Gilshanon donated and laidcement slabs on which to install the excellentset of boxes."Gene-o" loaned us his welder.Mark Forbes has been invaluable in hishelp welding as well as his labouring skillsand general pick up and delivery.Hazel Rolph, Col Sherwood, KevinLambourne, Ray Crystal, Bobby Crystal, ouroverseer, Brad Newman plus myselfcompleted the team.
