A list of all sale prices isavailable from the club.The club would like to thank all vendors,purchasers and our loyal band of volunteersfor their support of Australia's longest runningand most successful Auction.The club is proud to be involved with allSouth-East <strong>Queensland</strong> clubs in a challengeseries.This series will have increasedprizemoney and is made possible through thesponsorship of industry icon Jimmy Roy. Ourheats of this series will take place on TuesdayDecember 5 with our local final on TuesdayDecember 12.The first three placing s from our final willthen compete in the Grand Final to be run atSecretary'sNotesAlbion Park on Monday December 18.This series is for dogs who are 5th gradeon a class two track at the time of nomination.If you have any questions relating to this seriesplease do not hesitate to contact the club.All owners and trainers with promisingyoung maiden greyhounds should pencil inthe Vince Curry Memorial Maiden Series tobe run during February and March.This is Australia's richest maiden serieswith a $25,000 to the winner final.This series has been the start of the careersof many outstanding greyhounds and thiscoming series will be no exception. Detailsof the series appear in our advertisement inthis Journal.CAIRNSCAIRNS has lost another threegreyhound trainers last month.Carmel and Lloyd Metcalfe jnr have leftCairns for Tamworth. They have been strongsupporters of the Cairns Club since movinghere a few years ago and we would like tothank them for their support during their stayhere.Emma O'Connor, President, wouldpersonally like to thank Lloyd and Carmel fortheir help not only with Club matters but fortheir friendship and untiring help with herdogs on race night. Our loss will surely beTamworth's gain.Everyone was happy to share the goingaway prize that Junior won for them - theJackpot worth $1700. Carmel and Lloyd -good luck and keep safe.Mark (Charlie)Lutter's move to Biloela was work-related.Charlie has been involved for 4-5 years.Thank you Charlie for being another strongsupporter of the Cairns Club. Our loss in thiscase will be Rockhampton's gain.The club has been busy trying to repairCyclone Larry's damage, and has recently reloamedour track.The club would like to wish Evelyn Gougha speedy recovery.MACKAYThe club has endured a number ofproblems with the lure this year.Because of the way this system operateswe had a couple of new ideas bought in thatwere unsuccessful.But we were very fortunate to haveobtained two motors from Townsville Clubthat they no longer had any use for and thisalso gives us an opportunity to again thankthem for their assistance.Also, thank you to Bevan Williamson forthe two reconditioned motors which he hassupplied to our club.Through the help and guidance of NevilleJackson and the engineering skills ofcommittee person Gordon Francis, we notonly have one lure but two very operable luresand another on the bench being built.We would like to thank everyone involvedin this exercise as we can now go to trials ona Monday night and races on a Thursday nightand relax and enjoy our greyhound racing.So well done Mackay Club.The (November, 2006) Journal Page 38
