LITTLE RIVER trainer PaulBartolo has a range of optionswith his outstanding BrettLee-Leprechaun Yap litter but looks setto target the Western Australian YoungStar Classic in November.Miss Mini Mouse won the SouthAustralian Oaks after recording a besttime of 29.39.Her litter sister Betty's Angel hadstolen all the headlines in the lead-up tothe final after clocking a sensational29.17 at Angle Park. But she couldn't cross from the pinkin the final and finished down the track.Bartolo said he thought Miss MiniMouse was a great chance because herquicker sister has had trouble beforecrossing the field from box eight. The trainer also bred the litter out ofLeprechaun Yap (Hotshot-LeprechaunMiss) who was a multiple city winnerwith a best time at Sandown of 30.06.She had 37 starts for 14 wins, mostlyin the city, and collected almost $45,000in prizemoney. He said there were five bitches andtwo dogs in the litter and he sold two ofthe pups.Global Warming is racing in Perthand a very quick bitch which broke herhock was sold as a broodbitch but couldstill make it back to the track.Bartolo said the dog he has, FastIndian, damaged a metacarpal in his firstrace start when he won clocking 29.98 atThe Meadows. He said Fast Indian had already hadfour months on the sidelines and x-raysAndrew Thomsonshowed he would not be ready to putback into work until mid-November."Betty's Angel has always been oneand a half to two lengths faster thanMiss Mini Mouse and Fast Indian is asquick as Betty's Angel," he said."It's been very frustrating him beingon the sidelines because he is missing outon the puppy races, but we just don'thave a choice."He'll make a decent race dog. He's32kg and just perfect for two turntracks."Bartolo said he would keep his 26kgbitches on the two turn tracks and letthem go through their grades."They can get out in front and bowlalong without getting into too muchtrouble," he said. The trainer said Leprechaun Yap wasthe best bitch he had raced."She won the Rosebowl at GeelongVictoriaand got beat in the Laurels by a nose,"he said."I've only got six in work, but they allgo all right," he said."We've also got another litter ofBrett Lee-Chloe Jones coming throughand they broke in alright," he said.Bartolo has been involved ingreyhounds for about 15 years, but hewas always going to be hooked after hisfirst venture. He bought four pups from SteveKavanagh, of Brother Fox fame, twoturned out to be Farmer George andPaulatana."Because I bought four he droppedthe price from $1000 each to $900, butSteve rang me after they started and toldme I got a good bargain," he said.Bartolo also bred Leprechaun Yap.Previous Leprechaun Miss littersincluded one by Head Honcho thatincluded Jones Junior, Clearwater Boy,Royal Assassin and Lynshia Star. His first Chloe Jones litter includedTrewly Special, Two Up Larry and GoForever.Other outstanding chasers he bredwere Smack Wallop and Ammo. The 47-year-old said he has been fulltimein greyhounds for the best part of15 years."I thought I would give it a go andthis is where we are now," he said."The quickest I've had would beJones Junior. Leprechaun Yap had abrother Smash Bang that ran 29.80 whenhe was 16 months old but he brokedown."Betty's Angel goes all right. She'snever drawn the red and it'll beinteresting to see how fast she can gofrom the inside draw," he said.BRISBANE GREYHOUND RACING CLUBproudly presents$93,000 Group 1Sky Channel Brisbane Cup 520mFor the best Greyhounds nominatedHeats - 7th DecemberFinal - 14th DecemberWinner - $55,000 + Trophy & RugSecond - $10,000Third - $5300Fourth - $1500Unplaced - $500“HOT SUMMER NIGHTS”Sky Channel Beach Party14th December 2006• Committee Room • Christmas Buffet• Entertainment • $35 per personBookings to be made directly with theClub on (07) 3862 1744Bookings close Monday 11th DecemberGeorge Dailly with Pororoca.
