Dear People of St. Patrick:
Perspectives From Fr. Kurt: Our Parish Family
Alleluia! Jesus Christ Is Risen! It Is True!
In my name and in the name of all of our staff here
at St. Patrick, I wish you and all who gather with us this
Easter weekend, a very <strong>happy</strong>, holy, and blessed season
where we celebrate the Lord’s “new life” among us.
I welcome all those who come to celebrate with us
regularly, all those who are coming back to visit family
and friends, those joining us for the first time, and those
perhaps re-connecting with us after some time away for
whatever reason. I believe we all need to remember on
this joyous weekend that nothing can ever separate us
<strong>from</strong> the love of God, not even death itself!
I want to thank all those who gave of themselves so
generously to make this Holy Season so “life-giving.”
To those who decorated our Church so beautifully
under the leadership of Ms. Shari Simone and our Art
and Environment Committee, to our Liturgy Team who
helped us focus in a prayerful spirit under the
leadership of Ms. Linda O’Connor, to those who helped
us raise our voices in song under the leadership of Mr.
Neil Windt, our Director of Music, and Mrs. Susan
Raymond, our Youth Choir Conductor, to those who
served at our liturgies, to our ushers who greeted you
with open arms, to our lectors, ministers of
Communion, and our priest celebrants – I say a very
“heartfelt thank you.” This weekend is indeed special.
My hope and prayer as your Pastor is that the Spirit of
Easter peace, life, and joy may continue among us in
the months to come.

Speaking of life among us here at St. Patrick, I
want you to know that I attended an Archdiocesan
meeting with several members of our parish faith
community to assess ways that we could continue to
take care of our “sacred gathering spaces” and continue
to bring the life of the Gospel message to others. To
learn and to see with new eyes of faith how our parish
family has 27 ministries that serve the needs of the
people of Lemont and beyond, was truly inspiring to
me! Driving home with the folks who attended that
meeting with me, I heard in them a passion, of how we
could still be doing more for the greater glory of God.
My guess is, there will be new ministries emerging
among us in the year ahead. Please visit our website
and review the ways St. Patrick’s people try to reach
out in God’s name. If you would like to serve in a
particular ministry or see a “new ministry” on the
horizon, please let me know by contacting me at the
Parish Office. Let’s continue to bring the Good News
of the Risen Lord to the community of Lemont and
beyond. In the meantime, please know that as I gather
with you and around the altar this Easter, I am a very
grateful Pastor!
Finally, please remember that next Sunday, April
15 th , I will be the celebrant of our Children’s Mass at
10 A.M. Jesus often said in the Gospels that young
people teach the rest of us about understanding God’s
ways; come and celebrate with our young people and
all whom they love. You just might be surprised as I
have how much you are inspired through their words,
actions, and loving hearts of service.

Hello Friends of Saint Patrick –
Hard to believe but Easter is already here!
Yet here at Saint Patrick it was nevertheless a prayerful
Lent, aided of course by our annual Redeemed! concert on
March 23. If you had the opportunity to attend, you can
attest to this! Once again, we performed to a full house
and the spirit of the Lord was definitely with us in song
and prayer. I know I consider it a privilege to reach out to
the community of Saint Patrick, of Lemont, and of wider
Chicago-land through music….and I know everyone
involved in this concert feels the same way.
In fact, each year, more and more folks get involved. Not
only does this make the concert run more smoothly but it
emphasizes one of the key aspects of the concert:
COMMUNITY! It would be impossible to list everyone
involved in the concert but I do want to make a few
general acknowledgements.
The Men’s Club for TIRELESSLY donating their time to setup,
tear-down, clean, move, adjust, transport, etc. This
could not happen without their help!
Betty Slad and all those involved in not only decorating for
the reception, but also DONATING food/beverages for the
reception. The care taken in planning the reception really
went a long way in encouraging the “community” aspect
intrinsic in this event!

for Adults, 2012
The Adult Confirmation Program in the
Archdiocese of Chicago is a
collaborative effort between Bishops,
parishes, the Office for Catechesis &
Youth Ministry and the Office for
Divine Worship. Are you a Catholic who is at least
18 years old and have been baptized and received First
Communion? But you have not been confirmed? Or
do you know of someone in this situation?
Inform your priest, deacon or a lay minister <strong>from</strong>
your home parish that you wish to participate in the
program. If, for some reason you cannot do so,

We will be offering sessions at St. Alphonsus
Parish in Lemont, IL, beginning May 1 and ending
June 18, 2012. The Sacrament will be celebrated at

H.O.P.E.
Helping Our People seeking Employment
The next meeting of the H.O.P.E. Employment Support
Ministry to help those who need to find employment will
take place on Thursday, April 12 at 7 pm in the St.
Patrick Parish Hall (Cass Street
building basement). From 7 pm to 8
pm we will cover basic job search
process skills for first time attendees
such as writing effective resumes,
cover letters, and job search strategies. From 8 pm to
8:30 pm, we will give perspectives on what HR managers
look for in resumes and interviews, and answer your
questions about job searching. All are welcome to attend.

SPRED INFORMATIONAL GATHERING
Perhaps you have been considering becoming more involved in one of our community’s many
ministries. Or perhaps you are a parent inquiring about a religious program for your son or daughter.
SPRED is a ministry program designed to meet the spiritual needs of persons with developmental
disabilities, <strong>from</strong> age 6 and up. Sts. Cyril and Methodius is in the process of forming a group who will
work with 11-16 yr. olds. By helping these young people become a part of our parish community, you
will be rewarded with a wonderful opportunity for your own spiritual growth. We cordially invite you to

A TIME OF SPECIAL PROMISES
This recent feast was established in the year 2000 by Pope John Paul II. It was initiated by
Jesus Himself through the writings of a young Polish nun, Sister Mary Faustina, who was
canonized in 1993. The 13 years she spent in the convent were filled with extraordinary
gifts, such as revelations, visions, hidden stigmata, participation in the Passion of our Lord,
the gift of bilocation, reading of human souls, the gift of prophecy, and, most importantly,
the commission given to her by our Lord Himself to become the “secretary” of His Mercy
and write down all that He told her in a diary.
Jesus’ promise is recorded in her diary entry #1109: “I want to grant complete pardon to
the souls that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion on the Feast of My
Mercy,” (the confession should be within 20 days of the Feast). The celebration of Jesus
Divine Mercy should be concluded by the recitation of prayers for the indulgence, which
are: the Our Father, Apostles Creed, and a prayer for the Pope (perhaps a Hail Mary). Add
and invocation such as: “Merciful Jesus, I trust in You.”
Jesus, Himself, told St. Faustina that this Feast of Mercy would be a special day when “all
the divine floodgates through which graces flow are opened,” (Diary, 699). It is celebrated
every year on the Sunday after Easter. Take advantage of this special opportunity for
yourself and ask for Jesus’ Mercy on our world in this time of turmoil and natural disasters.
Encourage others to participate in this gracious invitation <strong>from</strong> our Savior.
