Last Fridayevening, May 31 st , we hosted the new graduates, theirparents, teachers, family, and friends here at St. Patrick’sChurch for a special graduation liturgy. I sharedwith them, in your name, how proud we are of whatthey have already accomplished and the type of adultsthey desire to become in the future. I encouraged themto accept their humanness, to love deeply as Jesus hasloved them, and to bring that love through acts of serviceinto a world that so desperately needs “their light, spirit and hope.” May I thank you, the people of St.Patrick and of St. Alphonsus for the very generous sacrificesyou make so that our young people can experiencea Catholic education.May I also extend congratulations and blessings to allof our graduates from neighboring High Schools, colleges, universities and various graduate programs. THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST Page 3NEXT WEEKEND’SSECOND COLLECTIONHELP SUPPORT OUR RETIRED PRIESTSNormal retirement age is 70 for Chicago priests. 50 retired priests still live in a rectory andassist the parish on a regular basis. Close to 120 retired priests celebrate Sunday Massweekly; perform marriages and baptisms; and visit the sick in hospitals. Without thesededicated men, many parishes would not be able to offer the full range of Masses and sacramentsthat is currently offered. The retired priests of the Archdiocese receive no fundsfrom the Religious Retirement Collection taken up in December. Next weekend’s collectionis solely for the retired priests of the Archdiocese of Chicago. The Archdiocese iscommitted to caring for our retired priests but we need your assistance. Please help and many, many thanks.Lemont Tri-ParishAt St. Patrick’s-St.
