Keyboarding Skills 3137<br />

Prerequisite: Introduction to Computers Level I or equivalent.<br />

Good keyboarding skills are essential for all computer users.<br />

This course will provide you with the opportunity to learn how<br />

to replace the “hunt and peck” or “seek and find” method of<br />

keyboarding with the more efficient touch method to improve<br />

accuracy and speed. Students will use a keyboarding tutor program<br />

on the computer. The instructors will set up the class assignments<br />

and be available for questions or assistance. This<br />

class runs concurrently with Microsoft Office.<br />

Prerequisite: Introduction to Computers Level II or equivalent.<br />

This course focuses on the basics of email using the free email<br />

program Windows Live Mail 2011 and the free web-based Windows<br />

Live/Hotmail. Class time is spent sending and receiving<br />

email, replying to and forwarding email, sending email to multiple<br />

recipients, setting up an address book, sending and receiving<br />

attachments, using signatures and managing your email<br />

and security aspects (virus protection, spam). Each student will<br />

have access to a computer.<br />

INTRO TO COMPUTERS<br />

Introduction to Computers Level I<br />

No prerequisite. This is a basic “hands-on” course for<br />

those with little or no computer experience who have a<br />

Windows-based computer available to use for practice.<br />

Classes are in a relaxed environment with an instructor<br />

who has experience teaching older adults. Learn how<br />

computers operate, basic computer terminology, use of<br />

the keyboard and mouse, some Windows accessories,<br />

simple document creation and basic Internet functions.<br />

Fee includes a manual. All sections meet twice a week.<br />
