Do you feel left out or under-informed about all the new technologies<br />

that are available to us? This overview presentation will<br />

address many of the new technologies available for: entertainment,<br />

communication and leisure activities. Topics covered will<br />

include: the many types of television sets, DVD/Blu-Ray, gaming<br />

consoles (Wii), digital cameras, mobile devices (smart phones,<br />

e-readers, GPS navigation, music players), Wireless/Blue Tooth.<br />

Learn how you can use them and which one will work best, or<br />

not, for your needs. A slideshow of these technologies will be<br />

used for demonstration.<br />

The Literary Role of Women in<br />

Canadian History 3559<br />

February 15 – February 29 3 Wednesdays<br />

This series will look at such women as Frances Brooke (who<br />

wrote the first Canadian novel ) the diarist Elizabeth Simcoe,<br />

Anna Jameson and the Strickland Sisters (Susanna Moodie and<br />

Catherine Parr Trail), all of whom are an important part of our<br />

literary heritage. These writings cover a wide sweep of Canadian<br />

history from the years immediately following the Conquest<br />

to the Victorian period. These writings bring insights to the<br />

world of family and community as well as to the larger world of<br />

politics and settlement. They also reveal the first images of a<br />

fledgling country. Please visit our website for a short list of suggested<br />

readings.<br />

This introduction to guitar is a group-based class<br />

taught by Ian Hodges. Ian is a professional classical<br />

guitarist based in Winnipeg. He has many years’ experience<br />

and continues to teach classical jazz and folk<br />

guitar, music theory, and is involved in many other<br />

areas of music. No experience required.<br />

People have used tarot cards for personal enjoyment or insight.<br />

The history of the tarot and the structure of the deck will be reviewed.<br />

Participants will learn how to read a simple spread.<br />

Tarot cards will be available for purchase or to borrow for use in<br />

class.<br />
