From the Dean
As an INSEAD donor or volunteer, you are part
of something very special. First and foremost,
I would like to thank you for everything that you
have made possible through your support. But
I would also like to congratulate you. INSEAD’s
fundraising success is a story of which we can all
be truly proud.
That story goes as follows. The campaign we
launched back in October 2004 has exceeded
all expectations. At the time of going to press the
total stands at €174 million in gifts and pledges –
well ahead of schedule to reach the original
target of €200 million by 2010. In addition, the
INSEAD Alumni Fund, which is also an integral
part of the Campaign, continues to break its own
records year after year. These are remarkable
achievements on your behalf.
But here at INSEAD we’re not stopping to
congratulate ourselves. We’re looking to the
future. At this point in the campaign, we have
decided to take stock and refocus our efforts
on four main funding priorities: endowed
scholarships for socio-economic and gender
diversity; endowing a centre of excellence for
leadership; bringing all of our social
responsibility efforts into a single entity; and
founding a Blue Ocean Strategy Institute.

Across each of the four priorities, we are affirming
our commitment to the school’s vital endowment
fund. It is no exaggeration to say that we depend
on it for a secure future. While the INSEAD Alumni
Fund will continue to provide much-needed
current funding, all larger gifts will be endowed
from now on.
For an independent, not-for-profit institution
such as INSEAD, the importance of donors and
volunteers cannot be underestimated. While
income from fees covers running costs, we
depend on the generosity of individuals,
companies and foundations for innovation and
expansion. You are, quite literally, investors in
INSEAD – whether in terms of time or money –
and we are perennially grateful for your support.
I hope that this report not only reaffirms the value
of your investment but strengthens your ties with
the school.
