Mark 2:23-28 “ 23 One Sabbath He was going along beside the fields ofstanding grain, and as they made their way, His disciples began to pick off thegrains. 24 And the Pharisees said to Him, Look! Why are they doing what isnot permitted or lawful on the Sabbath? 25 And He said to them, Have younever [even] read what David did when he was in need and was hungry, heand those who were accompanying him?— 26 How he went into the house ofGod when Abiathar was the high priest, and ate the sacred loaves set forth[before God], which it is not permitted or lawful for any but the priests to eat,and [how he] also gave [them] to those who were with him? 27 And Jesus saidto them, The Sabbath was made on account and for the sake of man, not manfor the Sabbath; 28 So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.Yeshua gets us to understand that David could eat the shewbread in thetabernacle because he was in the linage of Yeshua the Great High Priest. This High Priest is the One who brings us the Bread of Life.If you have been adopted into God’s Family then you are in the linage ofYeshua.Matthew 12:1-8 “ 1 AT THAT particular time Jesus went through the fields ofstanding grain on the Sabbath; and His disciples were hungry, and theybegan to pick off the spikes of grain and to eat. 2 And when the Pharisees sawit, they said to Him, See there! Your disciples are doing what is unlawful andnot permitted on the Sabbath. 3 He said to them, Have you not even read whatDavid did when he was hungry, and those who accompanied him— 4 How hewent into the house of God and ate the loaves of the showbread—which wasnot lawful for him to eat, nor for the men who accompanied him, but for thepriests only? 5 Or have you never read in the Law that on the Sabbath thepriests in the temple violate the sanctity of the Sabbath [breaking it] and yetare guiltless? 6 But I tell you, Something greater and more exalted and moremajestic than the temple is here! 7 And if you had only known what this sayingmeans, I desire mercy [readiness to help, to spare, to forgive] rather thansacrifice and sacrificial victims, you would not have condemned the guiltless. 8For the Son of Man is Lord [even] of the Sabbath.Yeshua goes on in other places to tell His disciples that they should approachthe Shabbat with the right attitude and with a circumcised heart.Matthew 12:12 “ 12 How much better and of more value is a man than asheep! So it is lawful and allowable to do good on the Sabbath days.Matthew 24:20 “ 20 Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on a Sabbath.Luke 23:56 “ 56 Then they went back and made ready spices and ointments(perfumes). On the Sabbath day they rested in accordance with thecommandment.50
