PALSUN ®Chemical Resistance• PALRAM compatibility test is based on ISO 4599.• A list of recommended adhesive and silicones is available.• PALRAM can test any material for compatibility to polycarbonate.11


PALSUN ®Chemical Resistancesummery of PALRAM compatibility test:• Samples of polycarbonate are applied with the chemical.• The samples are bended to a radius of 400mm.• The samples are kept in a temperature of 50 O C for 24 hours.• After 24 hours the samples are checked for cracks or anycolor change.12

PALSUN ®Thermoforming• Almost all types of PALSUN sheets are suitablefor the various thermoforming (TF) procedures.• due to a natural small moisture content absorbedafter manufacture, pre-drying treatment is requiredprior to most thermoforming techniques.• Avoiding this preliminary treatment may result inmoisture blisters, marring the appearance of thefinished product, and/or reduce its properties.17

PALSUN ®Thermoforming• Protective Polyethylene (PE) masking in Thermoforming:• Special PE masking is available for TF and should beordered for sheets intended for TF.• This masking could be left on the sheet during most of thethermoforming methods, to be peeled off at the last moment.• In case of regular masking, it should be removed prior to thethermal treatment, otherwise it may fuse into the sheet’s face.19


PALSUN ®Cold bendingSmooth and notch-free edges (rounded and/or 45°taperededges) of the PALSUN sheet are necessary to prevent sidecracking during bending.In addition, the bending machine has to be properly adjusted tosheet thickness, ensuring uniform bending.20


• For sheet thickness up to 4 mm, cold line bending shouldusually be restricted to angles between 0° to 90°, in orderto limit the critical elastic strain.• In thicker PALSUN sheets of 6 to12 mm, cold line bendingshould be limited to angles between 0° to 45°.Note:PALSUN ®Cold bendingFollowing bending, residual stresses will remain in the sheetand will reduce the impact strength of the material in thearea along the bend.Therefore, this technique should in general be limited to lessdemanding applications.21
