Comm. Taylor: I would just like to say that Mr. Battis spoke about that before and wewere supposed to know about it. We knew about the city plan. We knew that theMayor wanted to consider helping us. But there was no more dialogue after a certainpoint. We were not talked to. That question that he asked was a surprise. A weekbefore the election comes the question about $10 million to help the Board ofEducation. I think that was totally wrong for him to do that. It took us all by surprise.We were not talked to. We were not involved in it. We knew the city plan. We knewthat they wanted to work with us. We knew we all wanted to work together. But I thinkwe need to talk about it first before you put it in the public to make the public believethat there was some conversation already.Comm. Brown: Thank you very much. We understand the sensitivity of this issue.Comm. Taylor: Yes, I know.Comm. Brown: If we can, we are going to just table it momentarily so that we can getback to our agenda.FISCAL COMMITTEEComm. Atallo reported that the Finance Committee met, reviewed and recommendsapproval for Resolution Nos. C-1 through C-13:Resolution No. C-1WHEREAS, it is necessary to pay vendors’ bills and claims against the Paterson PublicSchool District; and now thereforeBE IT RESOLVED, that the Paterson Board of Education approves payment ofNovember 2005 bills and claims, checks 127016 through 127625, 127671 through127673 and wires in the amount of $21,231,446.76 as attached hereto and made a partof the minutes; and be it furtherRESOLVED, that offline checks 126982 through 126998, 126999 through 127015 inthe amount of $171,061.17 as attached hereto and made a part of the minutes; and beit furtherRESOLVED, that voided checks 125500, 126156, 126157, 125629, and 126858 in theamount of $64,691.71 as attached hereto and made a part of the minutes; and be itfinallyRESOLVED, that cafeteria checks 127626 through 127670 in the amount of$520,185.25 as attached hereto and made a part of the minutes.Resolution No. C-2WHEREAS, it is necessary to close a bank account from Paterson Public SchoolDistrict Workers Compensation Account; and now thereforeBE IT RESOLVED, that the Paterson Board of Education approves the closing of theHudson United account 0306202424 of the Paterson Public School District; andBE IT FUR<strong>THE</strong>R RESOLVED, that the account balance has been deposited into theaccount at Commerce Bank.Page 34 11/9/05
Resolution No. C-3WHEREAS, there is a need to request district taxes, exclusive of debt servicerequirements, to meet the needs of the School District for the month of November 2005;and now thereforeBE IT RESOLVED, that the Paterson Board of Education approves the request ofDistrict taxes, exclusive of debt service requirements, needed to meet the obligations ofthe School District, for the month of November 2005, in the amount of $3,032,414.75,and that the City of Paterson is hereby requested to place in the hands of the Custodianof School Moneys that amount within the next thirty (30) days, in accordance with thestatutes relating thereto; andBE IT FUR<strong>THE</strong>R RESOLVED, that the Paterson Board of Education approves themonthly certification of the State District Superintendent/Board of Education for themonth of November 2005, attached hereto and made a part of the minutes.Resolution No. C-4WHEREAS, the New Jersey Administrative Code 6:20-2.13 (a) – (c) requires the BoardSecretary and the Board of Education to certify that no budgetary line item account hasbeen over-expended and that sufficient funds are available to meet the district’sfinancial obligations; and now thereforeBE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education approves transfer of funds within the2005-2006 school year budget, for the month of July 2005, so that no budgetary lineitem account has been over-expended and that sufficient funds are available to meetthe district’s financial obligations, as requested by various budget managers, and asidentified in the list of transfers attached hereto and made a part of the minutes.Resolution No. C-5WHEREAS, the New Jersey Administrative Code 6:20-2.13 (a) – (c) requires the BoardSecretary and the Board of Education to certify that no budgetary line item account hasbeen over-expended and that sufficient funds are available to meet the district’sfinancial obligations; and now thereforeBE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education approves transfer of funds within the2005-2006 school year budget, for the month of August 2005, so that no budgetary lineitem account has been over-expended and that sufficient funds are available to meetthe district’s financial obligations, as requested by various budget managers, and asidentified in the list of transfers attached hereto and made a part of the minutes.Resolution No. C-6WHEREAS, Paterson Public Schools are required by New Jersey Administrative Code6:23-2.2(a) to prepare monthly Financial Statements; andWHEREAS, the School Business Administrator has prepared and presented the BoardSecretary Report A148 and the Report of the Treasurer A149 including the cashreconciliation for the month of July 2005; and now thereforePage 35 11/9/05
