This is anexcellent location for swimming, snorkellingand fi shing. Surfers can head to DunesBeach, 17 kilometres north of Exmouth.Lighthouse Bay offers great fi shing andswimming. You can access it via tracksalong the Mildura Wreck Road.Charles Knife Canyon, Cape Range National ParkShothole CanyonThis canyon was named after the shot holesleft by seismographic explosions duringthe search for oil in the 1950s. Access isfrom Minilya Road 16 kilometres south ofExmouth and the gravel road meandersover dry creek beds and the gorge fl oor,offering close examination of the colourfulrock layers of the sheer canyon walls.Charles Knife CanyonTake this scenic journey for views acrossrazor backed ridges and down steepgorges. Starting 23 kilometres southof Exmouth, the views during this drivechange from dawn to dusk. The hull sat on the reefundisturbed until World War II when alliedplanes used it for bombing practice! Thesedays it provides an ideal sanctuary forbaby sharks. Salvaged timbers and ironscan be seen today at Yardie Homestead.
