Appendix 8Roles and Responsibilities of Particular Teams or Agencies8.1 The role of the social work team manager in adult protectioninvestigationsFrom the point the adult protection cause for concern has been received theteam manager is responsible for leading the investigation.Other responsibilities include:Fully discussing the cause for concern with the social worker conducting thescreening process.Agreeing the most appropriate partner to conduct any joint investigation, for example,the Care Inspectorate, Police, and Health etc.Agree the level of harm for the adult at risk at the point of screening and thereasons for a particular investigation timescale.Provide professional advice, guidance and supervision about carrying outconcluding an investigation with the council officer appointed to conduct theinvestigation.Consider involving an independent advocate to represent the views of theadult at risk as part of the inquiry when they do not have capacity to makedecisions for themselves.Quality assure the investigation work of the team, including paperwork.8.2 The role of the Care Inspectorate (formerly known as SCSWIS)To submit a cause for concern to the social work contact centre where anadult at risk has been identified in a regulated service.To participate in an interagency referral discussion (IRD) where there is aregulated service or individual involved.To monitor whether regulated establishments and agencies are working inaccordance with the Fife Multi-Agency Adult Protection Guidance.To investigate any breach of regulations established by the Public Reform Act2011 and take action accordingly.63
