EXECUTIVE SALES PROMOTIONConvention + a contest + commitment equaled the perfect formula for Tricia Carrasco and her team!A Division manager who attended February’s Convention with just two of her team members, this rising star soared by embracing the‘Leadership Explosion” contest launched at Convention. She’s a multiple trip winner and now a newly-promoted Senior Division manager! In spite of her personal health challenges, this dynamic, caring leader has excelled. Her manager, SVP, Terri Sawyer says, “Tricia hasovercome obstacles that would have stopped the normal person from tackling a challenging endeavor. A single mother of five, she’sstruggled with medical issues but she approaches life with an upbeat, positive and enthusiastic attitude. Tricia will always rise to the top!”We extend our congratulations to Tricia on her advancement to Sr. Division and on her accomplishments and wish her continuingsuccess in Park Lane.Dream It. Visualize It. Believe It.Submitted by Tricia Carrasco, Senior Division (Sawyer organization)Prior to February’s Convention in Las Vegas, I stressed to my team members just how important it was toattend the event. As a Division manager, I felt it was my responsibility to guide them. I shared with themwhat my experience was when I attended my first convention in 2008. I remember thinking “Wow!”… all theexcitement, enthusiasm and energy… and all those beautiful ladies wearing all that extraordinary BLING! Iwanted everyone to go and I assured them that they would not regret making the investment in themselves. Two of my ‘stars’ were able to make it; and, as it turned out, I’m sure they are glad they went!I knew that the Convention was going to be exciting, fun and motivating; I just did not know to what extent!!(Park Lane is always full of ‘surprises’!) On Friday morning I attended a meeting that was for the Executives. They explained that Division managers who were excelling had been specially selected to be invited guestsat the meeting. I was so floored with excitement over all that was being said that I couldn’t wait to replayeverything in my head and to put it all down on paper! What I heard blew me away! I knew instantly that there was no way I would miss out on this. No way that I would not follow through! Notonly was there a new trip contest to be announced later that night, but ANOTHER trip… a weekend in Beverly Hills… was also in the plan!We were introduced to a new program, the “Leadership Explosion 2010” - the “5 & 1” program. I knew then and there that I simply had toearn this weekend getaway to Beverly Hills! First, I rallied up my ladies there at convention and then I text-messaged my team back homein Texas. I wanted everyone to feel the excitement that I was feeling! Next, I wrote down all my recruit prospects and the names of everyone of my team members and their possible recruits as well. I made a list of who I thought would be promoting to Branch and who I thoughtwould be a good candidate to develop toward an Area promotion.I knew what I had to do; Trust God, have faith, and believe in myself. With this in mind I set a goal. I knew I had to recruit 3 personal recruitsso that was a must. I knew as a team we needed to have 6 new team members. I knew 15 personal shows had to happen. And I had topromote two people to Branch and then to Area! This all had to happen in the 1st segment then I knew I had to repeat it in the 2nd segment.I have to confess I was restless as the weekend started winding down because I was so anxious to get home and put all my excitement intoaction. By the time I returned home I had my TO-DO LIST all ready to start following through; and I did just that! I personally recruited 2,held my shows and energized my team; it was Game On! The month of February, we recruited seven new people to our team, did fairlywell on sales, and I promoted two of my personal Fashion Directors to Branch. In March, my team and I were all still very excited and very focused on Beverly Hills the 5 & 1 Program. We worked week-by-week on ourgoal. One of my recruits and I earned the trip to Paris! Because we had sent in most of our sales early in the month, I did not realize washow close I was to earning the promotion to Sr. Division! I had stayed so completely focused on qualifying for the new contests of BeverlyHills and Aruba, and on helping promote other team members that I failed to keep track of my own personal and group sales for the month.I discovered that the program Jewels by Park Lane offers us is incredible! It’s all here ladies. Just follow the plan. Wait till you see theseresults…By following the “Leadership Explosion” and simply following the course laid out for you, you all can multiply your business overnight! Inthe month of March, I went on to sponsor one more personal recruit, I held my shows, and promoted my two Branches to Area. And, asa TEAM, we recruited 18 new members, we had 10 promotions: 5 promoted to Branch, 3 promoted to Area, 1 to Division and I promotedto Senior Division! Yeah!!! We closed out our month of March with over $70,000 net & non and a huge head start for TPW and the monthof April! Can this Beverly Hills getaway be accomplished? Yes it can! And, I hope to see the contest repeated after the next Convention! I knowfirsthand how it has changed my team, as well as others. Trust Park Lane to guide you; embrace all that they offer and it will lead you toyour goal.6 The Network

Attention Fashion Directors…Are you qualified to DIRECT fashion?Develop your fashion expertise. When a client seeks your opinion on which accessories would look beston her, or when she wonders if she should purchase her jewelry in silver or in gold, it helps to be armedwith a little knowledge. Your mission is to give good advice and wise counsel. Consider your own shoppingexperiences. Don’t you prefer to do business with a sales associate who has a keen sense of fashion andwho gives you an honest opinion? Your customers feel the same way. Our business is built on referrals andon repeat business. To keep your customers coming back to you and recommending you to their friends, offer them informed advice and outstanding service.Start here. If a woman could own just ONE jewelry item, it should be a pair of earrings. Earrings addvibrancy to your complexion and sparkle to your eyes! Stand before the mirror, wearing a pair of earrings. Now, remove them and look back into the mirror. These little baubles make all the difference in the world.Earrings frame your face; without them you simply do not look “finished”.While, for the most part, ANY earrings will enhance a woman’s appearance, there are general guidelines asto the “perfect” earrings for each face shape. Remember though, rules are meant to be broken; so, if youcustomer falls in love with a specific pair of earrings or ensemble and it doesn’t quite fit “the mold” for herideal match mate; so what? The gleam in her eye when she FEELS pretty wearing what she LOVES willoverride the “general guideline” any day! However, when asked to give your opinion, OR when you want toadd interesting fashion tips to your show presentation, these are the preferred earring styles for each faceshape.DIAMOND-SHAPED FACE – Drop earrings with discs or clustersat the end of the drop will balance the face’s V-shape and drawthe eye outward at the chin. Choose rounded designs in lieu ofangular styles.HEART-SHAPED FACE: Large studs, discs or button earringsare a great choice for you because they draw the eye outward toemphasize your unique face shape.OBLONG FACE: Instead of a linear or long drop earring, chooseshowy studs, or go for button or round style earrings to draw theeye up and add sparkle to your eyes.OVAL FACE: Pretty much anything and everything looks great on this face shape. Chandelier earringsare especially flattering since they will draw attention to the entire length and span of your perfect oval face! Most drop earrings will beautifully accentuate your face shape.ROUND FACE: To elongate your features and draw the eye downward, choose drop or linear earringsinstead of button or round earring styles.SQUARE FACE: Hoop earrings are a great choice for an angular face. The round lines are flattering andsoften your look. Disc-shapes also work! Round it out.10 The NetworkSALESYour #1 accessory: EARRINGS … Don’t leave home without them!

That’s why it’s important to have polished telephone skills;in fact, a happy-sounding, pleasant voice heard over the phone line can be beneficial inalmost any business or personal situation. Here are a few simple suggestions to enhanceyour conversational skills:SMILE. When you smile, your voice will be more relaxed and people will have an easiertime listening to you; they will pay attention. You literally can HEAR a smile in your voice.Prove it to yourself. Call your own phone and leave two voicemail recordings; one with asmile, one without; now play them back and listen to the difference.TIP: It’s a good idea to have a mirror positioned near the phone(s) that you use to makeyour Park Lane calls. Seeing yourself in the mirror while you are talking, reminds you toSMILE and to stop slouching. Instantly, you look and feel more attractive, and that builds your confidence!BE CLEAR. No gum or food or smoking; you can hear it all over the phone. Be friendly and speak clearly toannunciate your words.BE PRESENT. Listen. Give the person your full attention. Don’t fold laundry or sort through paperwork while talkingto someone on the phone. If you are busy, politely ask if you can return the call later. And unless it is an emergency,do not talk on the phone while driving. Wait until you reach your destination to make a call.MESSAGES. Leave a pleasant-sounding message with your name and number; do not ramble on and on. Make itshort and sweet and clearly repeat your number twice… slowly.VOICEMAIL GREETING. Call yourself. What greeting will YOUR Park Lane customers hear? Does it soundprofessional? Your voicemail should announce you and your Park Lane business so the caller knows they havereached the correct number.RESPONSE. Return calls promptly. Successful people reply to messages quickly and efficiently. It shows the callerthat you are professional and that you value them and their time; both important steps in building an ongoing businessrelationship.MAY 2010 11

A Hostess Appreciation party is a greatforum for sharing Park Lane’s awesome opportunity, as well; but at the very least, you’ll have a whole lot ofnew bookings in your spring and summer date book! Say, “Thank you”! (You’re welcome!)Order your supply of Thank You Award Collection brochures. (Item#2213)12 The Network

BOOKINGWhy People Enjoy Home Shows... and how to keep it that way!Short and sweet, but special!People are busy; they have things to do and places to go.When a show doesn’t start on time or drags on too long, guests may get tired and tend to lose their enthusiasm.Following Park Lane’s proven show format will keep youon track. Keep the show upbeat and your presentationinteresting and fun.A terrific salesperson!Smile! Be friendly and interested in the guests. When aDirector jumps right in and makes herself part of the groupas if she has been a friend forever, it makes everyone more comfortable. Be generous. People love toreceive something for free. Offer little prizes and gifts. Use tickets to reward the guests and hold drawingsfor prizes. Your hostess is counting on you to help make her party a fun experience for her guests. Makeyour hostess happy and she’ll be a repeat hostess in the future.Comfortable…not cornered!Present the idea of hosting a party, but don’t overtly ‘push’. Tempt the guests. Plant booking seeds. Youhave SO MUCH to offer… so much to give! Simply by enthusiastically explaining the magnitude of thehostess rewards and specials and gifts, you will make it hard to say “no” to a show. Watch your presentationstyle. You don’t want to make the guests feel forced or obligated to have a show. Instead, cheerfully offer to“SPOIL” them! Then smile, and confidently ask for the booking.Special ‘goodies’ for the hostess!Make your hostess feel great! Let everything you do and everything you say show that you appreciate her. It’s the little extra gifts…and it’s the way you treat her. When the hostess is made to feel special… abovethe group, not only is she excited about what she is receiving, she also becomes the envy of all her friends! The guests want to be special too. A good opening line to your booking approach could be, “I will spoil you atYOUR party, too…OK?”A Director who cares!Work with your hostess. Make the show a partnership. A hostess loves it when her director asks in advanceif she has a theme in mind, if her guests like games, or if there is anything special she would like to see orhave shown. One hostess said, “I like it when my director asks questions about the people and wants toknow what they would like. This not only scores points with me, it gets me more motivated, more excited.I don’t feel pushed. I feel like the show will best service everyone here; I make sure I triple invite everyonetelling them how great it’s going to be and I even ask them if there are things they want to see. The moreexcited I am, the more people show up!”Ask the hostess questions. Find out what she has in mind. Talk about being partners in the show. This way,she will know what to expect, can effectively promote attendance and will host a show customized to suit theneeds and interests of her friends. We build our business by making friends and building relationships.MAY 2010 13

Offer extra prizes!• Use a piñata as a centerpiece for displaying your special date cards, drawing prizes, etc. (Of course, thelittle burro should be “properly accessorized”!)• You could suggest margaritas, salsa and nachos as basic refreshments. Easy! As an added inducement, you might even offer to bring the margarita mix or the salsa!HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY – Plan a mother-daughter party during May. PARK LANER IN PARISThese pictures capture two particular moments that I will cherish forever. First,we rounded the corner by the Hilton Paris with Ali and Sherry Shadab, who werecelebrating their Anniversary and my Birthday....and there it was! The iconic EiffelTower in all its glory!Below you will see a picture of the secondspecial event... the romantic dinner cruise alongLe Seine River on our final night of this fabuleuxtrip. You see....Park Lane knows how to rewardyou for a job well done. Only the best for ParkLaners, and this night was truly one of the bestnights of my life; I will remember it forever. Tosee the City of Lights at night...the twinklingTower and the beauty of its lights illuminating thehistory of this incredible city was something thatI could never have imagined....It’s something youhave to see to believe!I think one of the best rewards for me was beingThe Shadabs & the Knapps tour of Paris able to share this trip with my husband, Craig. This was his first trip with Park Lane and he wasLove at first!totally impressed. He was surprised by every small detail from the blingy pillowgifts left for us each evening to the personal attention from the LeVin family. As welanded in Paris, he leaned over and said “Thank you for this trip!” but I knew that he hadn’t seen anything yet! I couldnot wait for him to experience his first of many Park Lane trips! I knew that he would fall in love with our company justlike I have…and he did! He has me so busy recruiting for Aruba thatmy head is spinning! Who knew he had so many great ideas! So now when I am at parties, I proudly say, “A few weeks ago whenI was in Paris with Park Lane, I saw a....”, and everyone stops memid-sentence to ask about how I came to be in Paris! Some even say,“Wish I could start a sentence with a few weeks ago while I was inParis....” You can’t buy that kind of marketing ANYWHERE and I thentell them how THEY can start their sentences with a statement just likethat, too!Next stop....ARUBA!!! And just think, we are allgoing to be vacationing on our own private island!Farewell dinner while cruising Le Seine !Hubby and 16-year-old son, Schylar, will scuba divetogether. My 12-year-old daughter, Ciara, and Iwill chill out on the beach and catch-up on teen trivia! After fun & sun-filled days, we’ll dine at finerestaurants and dance the nights away to a sweet Caribbean beat. Our expenses? We’ll take nomoney and spend only “time” together as a family....because that is the Park Lane way! What willYOU do on your ultimate vacation in a tropical paradise? Can’t wait to see all of you in Aruba!!MAY 2010 21

PARK LANER IN PARISSometimes our opportunity reaches beyond the obvious and immediate rewards. Sometimes it provides aspecial moment or event that touches our soul and makes a long-held desire come true!Paris, France…. Music to my ears!Story submitted by Julie Ann Porter, Senior Division – Utah (Faulkner organization)I recently returned from the Park Lane Paris trip and what a fabulous trip it was. We wereable to experience so many famous places, and true to form, Park Lane did everything firstclass all the way. It was an extra special trip for me personally because I brought home asouvenir unlike any other. Let me tell you about it…I joined Park Lane in December of 2007, just 2 short years ago. Little did I know how manyexciting experiences awaited me. I have won the Park Lane trips to Athens Greece, MontrealCanada, the Bahamas and Paris France and I am currently on track to win our next trip to theisland of Aruba. Paris was a very special trip for me because I have an extensive backgroundin and passion for art and music. I went to college on a full tuition music scholarship and wasoffered an art scholarship as well. So, as you can imagine for an artist and musician, I havealways dreamed about visiting the Louvre museum and the city of Paris itself. I started playingthe clarinet when I was in the 7th grade and played all the way through college. Fifteen yearsago, while in college, I needed a professional instrument but couldn’t justify the cost for a topof-the-lineclarinet because I married soon after college and started having a family. All ofour extra funds went into my husband Sam’s schooling and starting our new life together. Mypassion for music was put on the back burner and we focused on having children and workingon my husband’s degree. Today, our two daughters, Emma - age 10, Emily- age 8, and our 3-year-old son who goes by “Moose”, are the joy of my life.In search of Paris music store…One of my New Year’s resolutions was to do something just for me, so Irecently started playing my clarinet again with the Ogden city concert band. When the trip to Paris was announced, I had a seed of an idea and I sharedit with my husband. The French company, Buffet-Crampon, designs andmanufactures among the best clarinets available on the market today. TheBuffets are the preferred brand among professionals. To get one at home inSalt Lake City, I would have to order it and buy it sight and sound unseen. That’s not really something that appealed to me in considering the purchaseof such an expensive instrument. A fellow band member gave me the nameof a music store in Paris that carried the Buffets. Sam googled the storeand studied the metro on-line so he could find our way through Paris. Uponarriving at the store, the salesperson brought out about 30 different modelsand styles. I was able to play them and hand-pick the one that I loved. I amso excited to tell you that I returned from the Paris trip with a top-of-the-lineprofessional Buffet-Crampon clarinet, made in France, paid for with my ParkLane income!Thank you Park Lane for giving me a businessthat not only pays well but allows me the time tospend with my family, take care of their needsand also develop my personal talents.Choosing her favorite!Jewels By Park Lane…now that is music to my ears!Julie thanks Sam!Passing on her passion...22 The Network
