We are thrilled to announce that Juanitaand Javier Garcia have qualified for promotion to the prestigious and coveted level of Executive Company Vice-President.In and by itself, a promotion to such a high level position is an amazing achievement, but to have accomplished it inspite of the challenge they faced at the same time, is incredible. SALESMaking a Difference…Senior Division Frank Saldivar (Dobrick organization) has taken up ParkLane’s mission to “MAKE A DIFFERENCE” in every way possible. Inparticular, Frank is drawn to the needs of children and has embracedPark Lane’s connection to the Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation. As Frank enthusiastically promoted the sale of Starlight bracelets, he began to think of otherways to create funds for the Foundation. As their rally date approached, he contacted hisCompany VP, Dawnette Dobrick, and asked for a few minutes to promote an idea… a raffleto benefit Starlight; Dawnette enthusiastically agreed. Frank designed a beautiful gift basketoverflowing with little gift items that would appeal to women. Of course Park Lane jewelrywas the centerpiece of the basket; sparkling DIVA ensemble added the crowning touch.Frank arranged the gifts in the basket and tied it all together with silk flowers, ribbon and abow.Just before the break, Frank briefly addressed the audience; he described StarlightStarbright, introduced the gift basket, explained raffle tickets would be sold during the breakand that 100% of the proceeds would go to the Foundation. He priced the gift basket raffletickets at just one dollar so as not to conflict with the team raffle, which was designated tooffset the meeting room cost. Frank sent the donation to Starlight with the letter below. Our thanks and appreciation to Frank for his thoughtful, caring ways; for setting a shiningexample! It makes us so proud to know that we have special people like him representingour Park Lane family!May 4, 2008Dear Starlight Starbright:My name is Frank Saldivar, and I am an Executive Manager with Jewels by Park Lane. At our last Executive Managermeeting with Dawnette Dobrick, Company Vice-President, I asked if I can coordinate a fundraiser for the Starlight Starbright Foundation. Dawnette wasthrilled and approved of my coordinating efforts. I made a gift basket with donations and raffled it at our last monthly Rally as a fundraiser. SPONSORINGThe “STAR FLEET” ContestHISTORY…Park Lane’s original “car contest”, the prestigious STAR FLEET program, was launched in the 1970s andrequired our representatives to meet certain criteria in order to participate. The first step was to recruit a qualifiedFD and promote to Branch Director. Then, when ready to become a STAR FLEET member, a Park Lanerpurchased or leased an American-made automobile… white exterior, red interior. The central idea was toenvision a “fleet” of sparkling white similar cars parked outside meeting halls across the country on any givenMonday meeting night. Being a Park Lane Star Fleet member was impressive; a status symbol. Each month, members committed themselves to recruiting so that they would earn a Star Fleet bonus to pay their monthlycar payment.TODAY…While the concept of our 2008 car program is similar, the requirements have been relaxed since the originalcontest launched in the 1970s. Today, Star Fleet achievers may drive or lease the make, model and color carof their choice. The contest is an additional perk; a monthly recruiting bonus that can be earned over and abovethe standard compensation plan. Yet the prestige associated with the contest remains in tact. In this day andage, having a job that allows you to drive a car paid for by your “employer” is a huge enticement! Be proud of the fact that the Park Laneopportunity places that perk within everyone’s reach!Strategy: Reward for Results vs. Fear of RepossessionSome companies offer a car program whereby the Company owns the cars and the representatives are assigned a quota that they mustmeet in order to retain the right to drive it. While this may force field production, Park Lane has always believed in the philosophy of rewardingachievements, not instilling the fear of loss. What could be more discouraging or deflating than to agonize over whether you’ll havetransportation next month or not? By providing a means to earn a cash bonus each month that is earmarked for a car loan or lease payment,Park Lane is underwriting YOUR ownership of YOUR OWN vehicle, yet not saddling you with undue stress and pressure.Ladies and Gentlemen…. START YOUR ENGINES!When you fully embrace the concept of the Start Fleet program, you will see recruiting in a whole new light. Not only are you earning aCASH BONUS, you are building your business.Start recruiting & THE RACE IS ON!An amazing phenomenon takes place the moment you sponsor a personal recruit; you psyche yourself out to immediately seek andsponsor more people to be eligible for that month’s Star Fleet bonus. SPONSORINGWords of Wisdom…As a top personal producer, Senior Division manager Melody Kral has met her share of terrific peoplethrough her extensive show schedule. One of the great perks of this business is the special relationshipswe cultivate and enjoy with hostesses. The hostess who sent Melody the following article muststand out in Melody’s mind as one of the most special. Gauging by the passion and intensity of thestory, the hostess obviously had a personal connection to the direct sales industry. Our thanks to thehostess who thought enough of Melody to send her this inspirational message and our appreciation toMelody for sharing it with the rest of us. Enjoy!WHO is in Direct Sales? She’s a no-nonsense corporate career woman who hit her head on the “glass ceiling”one too many times - and a sensible, single woman who’s decided that rather than“marry a millionaire” she’ll just become one. She is a Ph.D., a high school dropout andeverything in between. She’s business in blue jeans; wholesale in high heels; an entrepreneur in an evening gown. Her energies drivethe world’s economy. Her efforts mesh the gears of international commerce. In fact, if all the multiplied millions of women in direct selling stopped work for one week, the world’s economywould stumble to a standstill. She is a strong woman. Part angel, actress and acrobat, she is a multi-taskingmiracle - she can fold laundry, repair a bike, prepare a dinner, change a baby, change a tire and host a conferencecall - all at the same time.A fusion of model, missionary and magician, she can wrench ninety minutes from an hour, squeeze eight daysout of a week and 40 days from a month. She can meet a month end production deadline dead center - andalthough she may not feel it, she’s drop dead gorgeous. She can be found anywhere: From a concourse to a convention center. You’ll find her on a laptop in a coffeeshop, hosting an in home presentation, up front training or sitting in a seminar listening and learning. But mostlyyou’ll find her at home- because that’s probably why she chose direct selling in the first place. She loves God. She loves her family. She loves her company. She loves her products. She loves people. Thisdirect selling dynamo never meets a stranger. She simply has no time to be timid. She’s a strong woman. In a world where clarity is a rarity, she knows what she wants. Instead of taking careshe’s taking charge. While protecting the present she is planning the future. While others wish, she works. Whileothers are making excuses, she is making money. The very reasons why some women say they can’t succeedare the compelling reasons why she must. She is a strong woman. She is a tough-minded optimist. Pleasantly persistent she moves from rejection torejection without losing enthusiasm. She knows that her sales are in direct proportion to the number of times sheis willing to open herself up to being let down. She doesn’t enjoy it any more than anyone else but has come toterms with rejection and refuses to let it stop her from pursuing her goals.14 The Network

SPONSORINGThe BEST Advertisement! (times two!)They say “wearing the jewelry is the best advertisement”. Senior Division Cheryl AkersAND her beautiful, seventeen year-old-daughter, Ashton (featured below) are alwaysdripping in Park Lane, so Cheryl’s business gets DOUBLE the exposure!Cheryl says, Ashton loves Park Lane jewelry and I love having her wear whatever shewants because I reap the results! She’s a walking, talking billboard for my jewelry andeverywhere she goes, I enjoy free advertising! Take school for example… Her guidancecounselor hosted a very successful show for the staff. Mothers of Ashton’s friends haveheld shows because their daughters wanted to wear Park Lane jewelry as well. I havebooked, sold and recruited simply by letting Ashton get the product in the public eye.She just started working in a retail shop in our downtown area. Letting her wear myjewelry is like free advertisement. It is almost as if I rented part of the store, only better, because her jewelry is constantly staring right back at the customers. They see thejewelry when she greets them, waits on them, hands them what they need, and thenthey check out! There simply is no escape from the temptation of Park Lane’s dazzle! Ido not encourage her to sell Park Lane while working in the store, but when someonecomments on her jewelry or asks her about it (and they always do!) then she gets theirphone number for me and I follow through.“Models” are everywhere and who wouldn’t want to wear our jewelry for a day? Look forand lock-in YOUR “models”; people who will advertise the jewelry for you. Face it…every fashion-conscious woman would LOVE having access to borrow from yourlimitless Park Lane ensembles. She was genuinelyinspired by all she witnessed and hopes that by sharing her thoughts, others will be encouraged to attendthe Fall Convention in Chicago this August. My FIRST Convention… definitely not my LAST!It was early Friday morning - 5:30 AM – and my alarm signaled me to get up and get ready to catch myplane to go to my first Park Lane Convention. I was so excited…the day had finally arrived! My managers,Sue and Pat, had convinced me that attending Convention would be a wise decision, and because I trusteverything they tell me, I pulled out all the stops to be able to go; including getting the registration feeas a Christmas present from my mom!I arrived at the Paris hotel around noon, called Sue and we all arranged to meet in the lobby. I was roomingwith an acquaintance from our group and even though I knew we would get along, I had no idea that alasting friendship would evolve. We all checked into our rooms and eagerly anticipated what the weekendhad in store for us!Susan Steiger - BranchDirectorOn Friday evening, after having dinner with a few new friends, we entered the ballroom for our first night of Convention. Park Lane certainlyknows how to do everything first class… I had the time of my life! I watched tons of people from other parts of the country, as well asa lot of people I knew from our own team… be called up to the stage for all kinds of awards and recognition. You could feel the excitementand suspense in the air when the trip contest was launched… The room went crazy!Saturday morning we all assembled for a day of new announcements, training and learning. I cannot tell you how valuable that informationbecame to me when I returned home and how inspiring it was to hear from so many “Park Laners” about how much Park Lane enhancedand enriched their lives and how it could do the same for me. I saw the new jewelry launched on the big screen, I learned a lot and tookpages of notes – I could sense my business was becoming stronger and my life was becoming better.Saturday evening’s Awards Night Banquet was magical. We were served a wonderful meal, and again witnessed a parade of “Park Laners”being called up to the stage and receiving everything from jewelry to outfits to trophies and trips. Right then and there I decided that Iwill never again go to Convention without being one of the people called up for recognition! Before Convention I would have described myself as a person of little means. I lived paycheck to paycheck as a pre-school teacher earning$370 per week. I had, up until Convention, been content to hold a few jewelry parties for extra money. I originally came to Park Lanebecause I loved the jewelry and my current manager made me feel that I could do this. I now recognize what an impact Park Lane hashad on me. The people have truly become like my family and I cannot imagine my life without Park Lane or them in it. I feel loved, valuedand accepted, and I believe that God has put me in this place so that my life can truly change for the better. I am determined to openthe world of Park Lane to others who have no idea what a truly wonderful company this is. Since Convention, I am determined to recruit, sell and reap all the benefits I am worthy of and to finally be dependent on no one but myself and live the life I have always believed I deserve.Attending Convention was a step in the right direction. It was my first Convention… but it certainly will not be my last!18 The Network

She SOARED to Sr. Division!EXECUTIVEPROMOTIONLeah Fuhrmann joined at the entry level of Fashion Director just a yearand a half ago, and immediately began her climb up Park Lane’s managementladder. We are proud to announce that this vivacious young womanfrom Texas has risen through the ranks to qualify for promotion to the levelof Senior Division manager. We asked Leah to share her thoughts on herPark Lane experience...“My Park Lane journey began in January 2007, when I attended a showgiven by Aleta Howell. During her presentation Aleta talked about havingbeen with the company for 15 years and taking 30 FREE vacations.WOW! I wanted in on this! As Aleta revealed more and more of thejewelry, my Wish List grew and grew. By the end of the show, I hadaccumulated so many “must-haves”, I decided I needed to enjoy thebenefits of hosting my own get-together. That night, I ordered my favorites, booked a show, and even commented to my Mom, “You know, Ishould just do this.”I was not really sure when I was going to squeeze in a jewelry party. At the time I was working nightsas a Registered Nurse and had a six-month-old daughter at home. Actually, I had been praying for a‘dream job’ that would allow me to stay home with my daughter; a job that wouldn’t require me to stayup all night to do it, one that didn’t expect me to work shifts on holidays, and for which I would stillmake a decent income. At the start, I just thought Park Lane would be something fun to do and wouldgive me the chance to earn lots of FREE jewelry; but after six months with Park Lane, I realized that Ihad found that ‘dream job’ I had been seeking! My Park Lane career has allowed me to stay home with my daughter, set my own hours, and earn afabulous living. No longer do I have to pick and choose the holidays I will spend with my family. Ohyes, and those vacations I wanted in on… I took my first vacation with Park Lane to Cancun. It wasincredible! After that trip I decided I had to earn each and every vacation Park Lane had to offer. Iearned four trips to Rome and two to Atlantis. I can not wait for Atlantis!!I thank God for placing Park Lane in my path and my team for their hard work and enthusiasm. All ofthe training and encouragement I have received from Aleta has truly been amazing, not to mention thesupport from the LeVin family and home office. And last, but not least - I want to thank my husband,Matthew for all his support, without which none of the rest would have been possible.”SVP Aleta Howell says, “I knew right from the very start that Leah was destined for success….Even as a brand new Fashion Director, she displayed an intense desire to learn and to grow. Sheattended every training session and meeting available to her. It’s such a joy to work with someone who isso open, dedicated, and positive! Leah is a committed team player; she’s always there to offer a helpinghand and serves as a great role model to her team. She is a huge asset to our entire organization and Iam so very proud of her accomplishments. In every sense of the word, Leah is a SUPER STAR!”JUNE 2008 19
