that D.C., Sahib wants Begum Sahiba to come to Garhi Khuda Bux where themortal remains of Bhutto Sahib are being brought for burial. I accompaniedBegum Sahiba to Garhi Khuda Bux where she sat in the guest house for sometime but later moved to the house of her brothers. At about 8:00 o’ clock twohelicopters brought the body of Bhutto Sahib to Garhi Khuda Bux. The armyofficers insisted that they will bury the body after 10 minutes and those who wantto see the face should do so in this time. We protested against this degradingtreatment. The D.C. Shahid Aziz, however came to our aid and prevailed uponthe army authority to waive the 10:00 minutes restriction. The body was taken tothe house of brothers of Bhutto Sahib where Begum Sahiba could see the last ofher husband.When the body was taken out it was already in a coffin and was filled withflowers. A certificate of a Maulvi was attached which said that body has beengiven bath in complete Islamic way and hence does not need re-bathing beforeburial.Later I was taken into custody without even telling me what my crime was.Actually they wanted me to withdraw my statement that my Sahib had not beenhanged but killed by torture.After the martyrdom of Sahib I was elected as Chairman Nao Dcro MunicipalCommittee in 1982 from which I resigned in 1983 MRD movement on theinstruction of Mohtrama Begum Bhutto.Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Recollections and Remembrances; Copyright © www.bhutto.org 66
