Conversations that involve personal reflection and understandingmultiple perspectives are difficult to assess using quantitative measures. Assessmentoften takes a more subjective form, for example, through a teacher’sobservation of a student’s participation in activities, small group, and wholeclass discussions, as well as individual growth. Each lesson offers ideas for assessment,but the decision about how best to assess what students have learnedrests with the individual teacher.
