The room is on the secondfloor, far southeast corner of thepublic library in the Glencoe CityCenter. The room was christenedby the Friends of the Library withan open house last October andhas since been used by a varietyof groups, including for youthreading programs. The room alsocontains the original wood floor, asmall stage and original curvedarched setting above the stage.The late Geraldine Tews’ trustmade a generous donation to getthe project funded. The library activityroom will be used for teachingand learning through libraryprograms and events, Fountainsaid, including the children’ssummer reading program, teenactivities, author talks and adultandchildren-centered events.LOCAL. LISTEN!1260 AMkduz.com106.9 FMkarpradio.comNew look-gym floorsAfter cracks developed in the originalblue rubberized flooring at the1999 Panther Field House, the Glencoe-SilverLake School Districtopted to overlay two of the threegym floors with a new wooden floor.The results were spectacular. Thethird gym, designated for theChronicle file photoschool’s gymnastics program, wasnot involved in the remodeling. The$120,000 project, which also addresseddrainage issues around thefield house’s foundation, was completedbefore the start of the newschool year and has been used extensivelyever since.1310 AMkglb1310.com
