Recommendations – External Corrosion
• Carry out planned mitigation work
• Complete immediate investigations/repairs
• During investigations:
– A check should be made to determine if CP shielding
problems exist due to disbonded coating
– If this is the case then the area should be recoated
– During the removal of any coating the existence of
MIC can be confirmed by the presence of the smell of
hydrogen sulphide
• Investigate two corrosion features which produced
unrepresentatively high calculated corrosion growth rates
• Confirm with available records which features have been
repaired
