Website UsageThe following template options should be used on web pages highlighting individual departments, centers,and programs.Version A and Version BThese sample templates have been designed for use on sites that have been developed and are maintainedby <strong>UNC</strong> <strong>Health</strong> <strong>Care</strong>, <strong>UNC</strong> Hospitals, <strong>UNC</strong> School of Medicine, and other <strong>UNC</strong> entities, as well as entitiesoutside the <strong>UNC</strong> System hosting a web page on behalf of individual departments, centers, and programs.<strong>UNC</strong> <strong>Health</strong> <strong>Care</strong> entities that wish to develop a website but would like to avoid the cost of having onecustom-designed may use either Version A or Version B as a template for their web page.If an outside contractor is developing the website, the contractor must strictly adhere to all the relevant<strong>UNC</strong> <strong>Health</strong> <strong>Care</strong> graphic standards.Templates A and B, shown on the following page, are based on the following guidelines:Body Text Style• Acceptable fonts are Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, and Sans Serif.• The font should be size 2, which is about 8 pt.• Body text should always be written in black for optimum readability.Headings• Headings should be size +3, which is about 18 pt.• Subheadings should be size +1, which is about 12 pt.• Feel free to bold or italicize the headings for your department.Colors• The color for normal, active and visited links is #666699. Use this for all links from the departmenthome page or within your site.• The dominant background color for pages is always white.22
